In Luke 14, Jesus uses the term “disciple” three times, offering with that term a conditional statement. The Lord says that unless one does certain things, that individual cannot be his disciple. That phrasing does not communicate that one is not permitted to be his disciple, but rather that he or she does not have what it takes to be a disciple of Jesus.So what does it take to be a disciple of Jesus?
