Dutch watchmaker Corrie Ten boom was sent to a concentration camp in Nazi Germany for hiding Jews during WWII. She was released from prison due to a clerical error. She spent the rest of her life traveling around the world and sharing her amazing story of faith.

Elisabeth Elliot's husband Jim was killed in Ecuador in 1956 by a tribe they were trying to reach as missionaries. Elisabeth and the other wives of the slain men continued to minister to the tribe, eventually leading them to Christ.
