In honor of March being National Nutrition Month, we brought a team together from SOMC to discuss the very important topic of Food Insecurity. Join us as we dig into what food insecurity looks like, who is affected, resources and how you can help your own community!

Shawnee State University: Bear NecessitiesPantry is open Monday–Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (or by appointment) forstudents needing groceries, toiletries, and everyday essentials. The Pantry islocated in the Student Resource Hub on campus.
Community Action Organization
- Summer Food Serviceprogram - Available June - 2nd Week of August
- Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides women andchildren with fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs from farmers’ markets and farmstands. This is accomplished through the issuance of $5 coupons that eligible WIC participants may take to contracted Ohio farmers or markets to redeem for fresh, unprocessed fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Participantsreceive supplementary nutrition education on the importance of these foods in their diets.
- Senior Meals - This program assists Scioto County Seniors over 60 by providing congregate meals and home delivered meals along with other services.
- Child and Adult Feeding program – after school programs.
