    Title: From Rome to Rationalism
    Author: Joseph McCabe
    Narrator: Denis Daly
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 1 hr and 17 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-30-17
    Publisher: Spoken Realms
Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Religious Thought
    Publisher's Summary:
It is said that there is no-one more zealous in a cause than an adult convert. A notable example of this was Joseph McCabe, whose conversion was not to a religion, but from religious faith to secularism. Ordained as a Franciscan priest in 1890, and later recognized by the Catholic Church as an able scholar and teacher, by 1897 McCabe had completely lost his faith and had left the priesthood. He became a very active secularist, delivering thousands of public lectures and publishing over two hundred books on a wide range of religious, historical and scientific topics.
First published in 1896, From Rome to Rationalism describes McCabe's journey from faith to humanism. The content was later expanded into a full memoir, Twelve Years in a Monastery.
Like his humanist peers, Robert Ingersoll and Robert Blatchford, McCabe endured persistent vilification for his anti-religious views. It has been noted that much of McCabe's literary output does consist of material critical of the Catholic Church. However, he claimed that he viewed all religions in the same light, and it appears that his focus on Catholicism was due primarily to his previous deep immersion in it, and also to the status of the church as the largest and most influential Christian denomination.
    Members Reviews:
    A rationalist views the Church
Although the somewhat archaic style of this short work (26 pages) makes it difficult to get through in parts, the author's view of Catholicism and Christianity is ably summarized in the last six or seven pages.
The whole story of Christianity, says McCabe, had been enacted in the Far East centuries before Christ was born. The life of Buddha was as noble as that of Christ and his moral teaching was equally sublime; the same mythical features had been added to it by his zealous followers. Buddhism has had more vicissitudes and has, at the present day, more followers than Christianity. To the impartial historian Christianity is but one member of a large family of religions - Confucianism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Mohammedanism, etc.; its birth and life are similar to theirs; its death will be like theirs; like man himself, it bears no peculiar marks to prove the supernatural origin and the immortality claimed for it.
As for Christianity, McCabe observes, that we should have some basis for trust in the Gospel story if we had reliable assurance from known writers that it existed, as we now have it, immediately after the time of Christ. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is not until the middle of the second century that we have any testimony in favor of the authenticity of the Gospels worth considering. At that time certain documents appeared professing to describe the life of a religious teacher who had lived in a remote part of the empire more than 100 years before. These documents or gospels are many in number, all of unknown authorship, and many contain obvious absurdities. Gradually, the more absurd are denounced as apocryphal, and four are retained, which together with some letters of one of the early Christians form the "New Testament." The utmost we are justified in thinking of Christ is that he was a man of noble and generous life, with a singular influence over his fellow men, which was counteracted by the intrigues of the priestcraft he so frequently denounced and which ultimately brought about his death.

A cleverly crafted compilation of short stories
Creative short stories which are both thought provoking and spiritually calming. I enjoyed the variety of tales, each with a mysterious twist. The book is hard to put down and easily read in one sitting.
    Two Stars
The first story was very good. I didn't get into the others as much.
    Recommended
The book Collecting Feathers, by Daniela I. Norris, is a collection of eleven short stories about people who have passed over to the âother sideâ. But long after they've gone, the deceased still linger within the land of those still living. Each story explores the themes of life, time, and death while offering a glimmer of hope for those left behind living with grief. This book is a great read and flows easily. The author does a terrific job of casting the hook, and reeling the reader in.
In the first story, the main character, âOllieâ, was finally being released from a mental institution after many of years. Ollie was planning on killing himself with sleeping pills which he had been storing up for some time. But then, as if by fate, he met a kind, old women. He carried her suitcases home, and was invited in for tea. He soon learned that the woman's son and father had killed themselves in the same way that he had planned. He fell asleep on her couch and âmet her sonâ in a dream. Her son asked Ollie to take care of his mother until she passed away, giving Ollie a reason to live.
Another great story in the book is a story called âClockworksâ. It is an inventive story where watches made in Switzerland begin slowing down due to physic experiments going on at a collider at CERN.
The best story in the book was âRepentâ It is a great story about a character named Paulo who tries to dig himself out of a proverbial hole which he's dug for himself.
The stories span many time periods and cultures, and the author does an amazing job bringing these stories to life. It is clear that a lot of research went into achieving these great stories.
    Collecting Feathers is highly recommended.
    The fisherman in Collecting Feathers
Daniela Norrisâ short story collection titled Collecting Feathers is a mix of spiritual and supernatural. Norris is a fisherman of short story. She knows how to cast the hook and reel you in, a critical skill in story writing. In âGemmi Travelersâ, Laurent gets lost on a mountain with the elements bearing down on him. In âThe Right Placeâ, Sarah is attacked. In âRepentâ, Paulo the pickpocket gets more than he bargained for when he robs a marble-eyed old woman who curses him. All of these are great conflicts drawing the reader in.
One of the strongest tales, âA Reason to Go Onâ has a supernatural twist as two unlikely people come together and find softness and grace in the face of tragedy. Itâs the story of an aloof banker who falls into a depression and whose suicidal thoughts fall to the wayside when he meets an old lady at the train station.

    Publisher's Summary:
Today many Americans, including Christians, have little idea of the connection between our nation's unique success and its Biblical foundation. This is one reason our nation's government continues to depart from Biblical principles and values.
Filled with Scripture references, this book was written to efficiently and effectively equip and encourage Christians to bring the Bible back into the political conversation and confront society with the all-important question: "Who determines truth: God or man?" In the midst of a culture full of political deception and wickedness may the people that do know their God...be strong, and do exploits (Daniel 11:32).
    Members Reviews:
Bringing the Bible back to the political conversation.
In Government for the Christian, Samuel Smith writes: "...the intent of this booklet is to equip and encourage fellow Christians to bring the Bible back into our political conversation so that God's glory may be made manifest through His people in this needy arena. By restoring the Word of God to the political discussion, we confront others with the all-important question "Who determines truth: God or man?" In about 100 pages, Samuel Smith proceeds to do just that by delineating what scripture says on the key issues of human governance.
The book begins by examining the purpose of government and asks the fundamental questions about the foundation of law. With guidance from Sir William Blackstone, Samuel Smith defines the meaning of law and who determines it. It is a "rule of action dictated by a superior being" according to Blackstone and it includes the laws of science, the laws of humanity, and the revealed law of God. The revealed law of God, i.e. the Bible is the unifying source by which the laws of science and humanity are manifested in mankind's experience. Civil government and civil rulers are ordained by God ( Romans 13) but Tyranny is Satan's perversion of this.
In part two of the book, Samuel Smith, biblically assesses the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the issues of economics, foreign policy, and domestic policy. This part is where the author is unique in his approach and emphasis. Assembling both clear teaching from scripture passages and illustrative examples from Biblical historical narrative , he deduces from God's word the correct rules by which mankind's civil government should be established. In the chapters on economics, foreign policy, and domestic policy, Smith shows us from the Bible "God's Ideas" then, "Satan's perversion" of this in past history or in current events, and then "why it matters" where he quotes many of the Founding Fathers showing their prescient wisdom( as they were grounded in a Biblical worldview) and the evils that result when God's rule is not recognized.
The book concludes with a summary: five "big idea" takeaways that are gleaned from scripture:
    1. God is the source of all law-the Bible is necessary to have a coherent, consistent system of law.
    2. Government is God's idea-nations are accountable to Him for how they govern.
    3. Satan has perverted God's ideas about government.
    4. Rights and Responsibilities are inseparable.

In The Age of Healing, Neal shares 18 actual energy-healing sessions that demonstrate the boundless nature of our true selves. It is one of the few books that i will not only recommend to people but will buy for people to insure ...
This is an extremely important and valuable book. It is important because it gives the reader a unique look behind the curtain of something that few of us have seen. Then it begins to give you the eyes to see it. It is very well written. I felt as if the author was speaking to me in terms that I could understand about a subject that too often is spoken about in dry, scientific terms.
It is valuable because it has changed not only how I view my body and my health but it challenged me to truly see who I truly am.
Some books are interesting and give you something to think about. Others are fascinating because they change how you think about everything.
I am grateful to the author for taking the time and for having the ability to make the previously invisible to me, not only visible to me, but real to me. It is one of the few books that i will not only recommend to people but will buy for people to insure they get the gifts it has to offer. It is clear that it was written with love and in service to us all.
And for that I am grateful to Mr. Bogosian.
This book is a powerful gift to us all.
This book is a gift to all of us. A powerful living book of energy to all who read.

For new neo pagans entering into the religious worship of the Goddesses and Gods of nature, taking the first steps can seem daunting. The Wiccan religion is by no means mainstream, and it has no official guidebook to follow. You could spend days scouring the corners of the Internet looking for spells and information, only to find that your sources are poorly researched blog posts, all copying and pasting the same Wikipedia entries. The hunt for true magick can be overwhelming, but don't despair.
Wicca for Beginners: A Beginners Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft is by no means the first and last audiobook you'll ever need, but it does contain everything you'll need to know to decide if Wicca is right for you, and to complete the process of Self Dedication. Odds are good, if you're considering this audiobook, that you've come across a couple of online spells in your time, and that you know what a pentagram is, but this audiobook will present you with an overview of the Wiccan way of life and what being a witch truly means. Forget the Hollywood glamor, the movies about the shapeshifting teenagers, and poltergeist exorcisms. Being Wiccan is more than dancing naked at a Summer Solstice party and going gluten-free. Delve into the spiritual realm. Put aside your preconceived notions of a witch, and discover what Wicca really means.
Inside you will discover the answer to the questions:
Wicca is an expression of respect and homage to the Earth, and the one creative force that flows through you, me, and all things. Come, learn the old traditions and discover a new way to be one with the Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire by connecting to that force: the fifth element of Spirit.
