absolutely the best in the game nobody competes with him his first three books in the McGarvey series have no competition
this is second in the first three books by this author that are some of the greatest Espionage International Thriller suspense books ever written by anybody ever you can't put the book down and you have to read the first three to get to this point he has no real competition in the genre. This is when he started out nowthis 14 more books all great but these three got to go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for international Thriller adventure books
David Hagberg is a writer of spy and intrigue stories as good as Vince Flynn, Brad Thor and others.
I recently downloaded David Hagberg's first three novels from Amazon onto my Kindle. He had been suggested to me by a friend as a really good writer. I Just finished reading Countdown which kept me on the edge off my seat throughout the book. His hero, Kirk McGarvey is Mitch Rapp and Scot Harvath all rolled into one. the situations he finds himself in are certainly impossible for any mere mortal to survive, but he does, to continue his reluctantly, relentless fight against the forces of evil in this world. We all know he won't run out of evil to conquer...there is just too much! I will start Crossfire today.
Good read
It was certainly better then book one.
One of the better Kirk McGarvey novels
David Hagberg is always intriguing, especially his Kirk McGarvey series, and Countdown is one of the better books in the series. The story is consistently compelling, taking the action from one great location to another. The tension is superbly timed, and like any great spy story, the hero is not invincible so you always feel he really is in danger. His main adversary is dangerous and cunning, building to a strong mano-a-mano encounter. Hagberg's roots as a writer of submarine-based military fiction sees some application, but I thought the submarine scenes in the book could have been a little more dramatic. Still, that's not really a complaint, just an observation. This is an excellent spy thriller, with plenty of action throughout.
Hooked on McGarvey
This book was fast paced, with twists and turns and kept me interested the entire way through. I almost stopped the series after the disappointing first book. I'm glad I decided to try reading one more book!
