I Absolutely Loved This Audiobook

Some thoughts. As a grandma of three grandchildren ranging in age from 5,7, and 8, this audiobook has A LOT of appeal. It's cuteness scale for me is off the chart awesomeness. Knowing what my grandkids like and sort of how their little selves think, this hits the mark perfectly. My kids are in the military so I don't get a chance to see my grandkids as often as I'd like, but this is definitely a book and audiobook I'd send them.

J.T. EPISODE 1: THE QUEST for SCREENTIME is a wonderful children's audiobook that I highly recommend. I thought the three-minute dance party was smart. The entire book was smart. J.T. was so excited when he was assigned screen time homework until he's told it can be done without the computer. Loved it. Plus the epilogue where he has thoughts on when to have TV and screen time.

MARTI DUMAS is a terrific author of children's stories. Even I enjoyed it, with my 'I'm a kid at heart' thing. I think many of us are. I would love to hear more stories written by her and especially more with JADEN TOUSSAINT.

DICK HILL did an Amazing job narrating this audiobook. I was fascinated by his vocal range. He was so good and well, I'm just really impressed with this book and this collaboration. Wonderful job.

Last but certainly not least, the cover art by MARIE MURAVSKI is incredibly good. This is the total package. A no-brainer. One can't go wrong with this audiobook. It's also, in my opinion, educational.

Great start to a series!

Seeing this was the first episode, I do hope Jaden Toussaint has more adventures and becomes a series. As a confident little boy, Jaden tries to find a way to get more screen time, which here means time in front of a computer or smart phone and not, as I first suspected, in front of a camera.

Jadon rows up in a loving family vaguely similar to the authors other work. Jala and The Wolves, but that doesnt take away from Jadens story (or Jalas in her story). What I love about this book is the deliberately chosen language the author uses to describe Jadens perspective about school. Jaden likes school and homework and the author loves to write about kids who have a thirst for knowledge, which is the kind of book I want to read to my kids. I want my kids to like learning and not think that being smart is somehow not cool. I want the heroes of their books to like to read and get to know the world around them.

The narrator is fantastic and does a great job with voices and keeping a pace that allows the story to be interesting and engaging.

He pretends to be counting the peanuts and tells Brer Bear that he is getting paid by Sister Fox to count all the peanuts in the patch.

Brer Bear begs Brer Rabbit to let him have the job and offers to pre-pay him. Brer Rabbit takes Brer Bear's money and has the bear help him out of the trap and steps in himself. Brer Rabbit helps himself to some peanuts and then heads back into the briar patch. When Sister Fox arrives, Brer Bear asks to get paid. Sister Fox lets Brer Bear know he was tricked and begins to think up a plan to trick Brer Rabbit.

Sister Fox knows Brer rabbit always enjoys talking to newcomers, so she gets a doll baby and covers it with glue. Then she ties it to a fence post at the corner of her peanuts patch. She and Brer Bear hide behind a tree and wait. Brer Rabbit comes along and greets the sticky baby. It does not answer and after a number of attempts to talk, Brer Rabbit tries shaking hands with the baby and gets stuck. He grabs the baby's shoulder with his other hand and gets even more stuck. He kicks and head bumps the baby and becomes completed stuck.

Sister Fox comes out and Brer Bear brings a cooking pot. They are about to throw him in the boiling water when the tricky rabbit begs to be thrown in, claiming that he was afraid they would throw him in the briar patch where he would really be hurt. They decide to throw him in the briar patch, where he is free.

Great book that helped a white family with limited exposure to other cultures grant a beginning conversation. Now it is time to move out into doing!

A beautifully written book to share with children of all colors!

Introducing the uniqueness of each and every aspect of creation is a necessary part of parenting. Teaching children to appreciate and admire all the colors of people, of animals, of plants, bugs, etc needs to be done early in life to toddlers, preschoolers, and those in school. This book does this in beautiful artistry!

Awesome!

As a Board of Education member, I spend time in many classrooms reading to students. This book is age appropriate for elementary, middle, and high school students. The message is simple and beautiful. Even though we look different, we are all similar. This books further expounds on the school system's character education program.
