One of the best books I have listened to this year.

It's everything you would want to know about the development of the internet and what this may or may not imply for the future.

It's entertaining and incredibly well written.

It's as light and entertaining as a ted talk and it still feels that way after 8 hours. The author manages to intertwine the great thinkers of philosophy and literature with the development of the internet in all its parts, great and small. And yet following the discussion through the book is effortless.

IT is often considered a bit boring, but John Naughton gives it life and colours in a literary style that reminds me of Stephen Fry.

The part on copyright law really made me understand the problems lawyers have been discussing for years about the internet.

The narrator also does a very good job, making the book easy to follow and understand, while at the same time being pleasant to the ear.

I find it to be a profound master piece on internet history.

Oh if only I had, had professors like this at university, what delightful pleasure learning would have been

I took one 10 week law course in college and was able to follow about 99% of this book. I is well reasoned and provides possible answers to the problems raised while allowing for the possibility if answers not generated by the author. This is very good book if you are interested in law theory.

Great reading - still up to date

Ce document est une recherche scientifique fondée sur un grand nombre d'observations, expliquées et developees honntement. J'ai lu la version Anglaise originelle avec grand plaisir et celle ci est une traduction fidèle. Le style est agréable et équilibré. Et c'est une publication en 1859 toujours dâactualité.

The English version is very well written and great reading.

We recently just migrated originally from France and reading this book really gets my 3 year old son and 4 year old daughter interested in studying about science.

The dynamic duo of comic book debunking has returned with the obvious choice of sequel following The Science of Superheroes. Also returning is that books voice artist, award-winning nonfiction narrator Oliver Wyman. Gresh and Weinberg have their methods firmly in hand, as does Wyman. This chapter by chapter analysis of the scientific plausibility of the comic book universes most famous bad guys flows logically and smoothly thanks to solid research and energetic delivery.

The examination of evil technological applications and superpower innovations escalates from simple biology and chemistry to more complicated physics and mathematics, and concludes with speculation on other dimensions and parallel universes. Giving equal time to the two juggernauts of the comic book industry, DC Comics and Marvel, Wyman does a terrific job of amusing with character quotations and then maintaining interest throughout the scientific explanations. Never glossing but always keeping the mainstream listener in mind, the book provides adequate analysis to satisfy curiosity without drowning the listener in facts.

The two largest chapters are naturally devoted to the most long-standing and heavy-weight supervillains: Lex Luthor of Superman for DC Comics and Magneto of X-Men for Marvel. Are Luthors mad scientist inventions possible? What are the limits of Magnetos abilities? This is a book for pop culture lovers, but also for people with a general interest in science. Highlights include a laundry list of possible lethal agents for Poison Ivys lipstick in Batman, light speed calculations of the Silver Surfers travel time in The Fantastic Four, and nanotech revelations for The Lizard in Spiderman. Compelling

This was a good book. Quite depressing though; I had to stop listening to it at times. The part about the Iraqi seed bank being destroyed in the war and reconstructed only to be overseen by some US-installed, Monsanto friendly, corporate peon really killed me. Now they are not even allowed to save and trade seeds. It's really just the same bullcrap that's going on in this country but they can get away with even more blatant abuse "over there."

It's a shame, what's going on with our food these days. It's a shame, what our governments (and ultimately we) are allowing corporations like Monsanto to do. That our legal systems allow the patenting of life, seeds and the tampering of God's (or The Mother's) creations is sick and wrong.

What this all comes down to is corporate abuse, moral decrepitude and runaway capitalism. None of this is done for the benefit of mankind in any way, shape or fashion. Like the banks before them (well okay, right along with them now too... woops, didn't learn our lesson did we?), the mega-corporations are gobbling up, screwing over and/or perverting everything in their paths and we are letting it happen.

This is a world-wide issue with enormous implications for the human race. Arm yourself with knowledge and do something about this.

I learned a lot from this book even though I already knew quite a bit. I have my own anti-GMO start-up called GMO-Free Seattle. This book was part of the fuel for my fire.

The precision of the narrator...exactness of the written word...it just hits home. I've done plenty of research over the years about this subject. Have you ever taken a course on a subject you thought you knew something about ...only to find out you had just scratched the surface on your own and only thought you knew about it...... Well, that's the difference between researching on your own and listening to this fantastic book.
