Critic Reviews:
"A whirlwind, out-of-this-galaxy adventure! The dynamic cast of characters, edge-of-your-seat action, and sprawling universe had me hooked from the very first pages." (Sarah J. Maas, number one New York Times best-selling author of the Court of Thorns and Roses series)
"Epic, mesmerizing and heart-stopping, you'll be left breathless and wanting more." (Danielle Paige, New York Times best-selling author of the Dorothy Must Die series)
Members Reviews:
I'll be honest: I couldn't finish it.
Let me get this out of the way: I know nothing about âbooktubing,â or the authors and my review does not reflect upon the fact that the publisher and editor have made some major book publication mistakes recently, one of which I have read. That said, how I feel about Zenith after trying to read it is completely my own opinion and based only on what I read: I could not finish it.
By the time I reached page fifteen I was pretty sure I did not like this book, but I pressed on anyway, I believe giving books a chance. But as I kept reading, I grew more and more discouraged. A ship full of female space pirates sounded exciting and had to be kickass. An MC nicknamed the Bloody Baroness was a little off-putting and juvenile, but I liked the plot synopsis.
First clue I was reading amateur writing: single sentence paragraphs. Every single page had multiple single sentences. Maybe thatâs a new form of writing, but it made this book read like a script. The authors tried to incorporate descriptive semi-flowery writing but instead it came across as stilted and $100 word search. And the dialogue was weak and monotonous.
The characters are covered with a sentence or two and not real deep. But, a thirteen year-old mercenary with red braids? Bit of a stretch there. A Second-In-Command named Lira that she calls Lir? I donât know why it bothered me that she dropped the second syllable, but it did. And the BBâs hot-headed jerk ex-lover reads like someone the readers should hate but writers will the have the two get back together by the end of the first book because thatâs the way all Harlequin books roll.
Sorry, I donât mean to throw shade on the authors but the book needs some major editing before publication.
Missed the mark
I'm a big Booktube fan. I can spend hours various channels with people talking about books. If you're not familiar with Booktube, you won't get very far without running into one of Sasha Alsberg's videos. She started doing book related videos when she was a teenager and now she's in her early 20's. Because she's one of the most followed people on Booktube (she currently has over 360,000 subscribers as I write this review), she had an opportunity to publish a book.
