i don't usually like stories crafted from another persons work.this one was a fairly good story. i did like the two children in the story.

Fun Christmas Read

This was a sweet little Christmas read and mostly a retelling of A Christmas Carol from the POV of two street urchins, Sam and Lizzie.

Takes a classic and turns it around to see what other people felt during it

"What is it to you if they're sad? Maybe they deserve to be sad, eh? Maybe they were horrible people when they were alive.""But I think that's why they're sad. I think they want to help people now and they can't."

Sam and Lizzie are two street children who have very little and will most likely pass away very soon, if they don't get help from someone. Because of this Sam is a very angry young man who is trying his best to protect/support Lizzie, but it isn't going well. So Sam decides that he is going to take something from Mister Scrooge. Except somehow things go wrong and instead he gets taken along by the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future and sees not only his own life, but parts of scrooges as well. Along the way Sam starts seeing that his choices haven't also been the best and that what he is about to do will not only end up hurting himself, but making Lizzie have to do things as well in order to stay alive.

"It is about everyone Scrooge can affect. If his future is changed, then so is theirs. We do not visit him because he is deserving, but because he is not. A bad man turned to good is benefit to all."

Overall I really loved this story. As a kid I would wonder who those children were that were under the presents robes, where did they come from, did they have any connection to scrooge or were they just to be used as an example? This book not only satisfied my childhood curiosity, but also made me realize some other things as well.

We know that the children represent "Ignorance and want: beware them both, but beware ignorance most of all." and that we should try to help them. But this book not showed the background of the children, but what made them get into this type of situation and how not only what there father had done, but what their mother choose as well ended up making them suffer. Plus Sam being so angry at the world all the time didn't really help matters either. Going through the journey of past, present and future of Sam and some parts of scrooge. Not only shows us how we all affect others, but how starting to be more aware and changing things for the better not only helps ourselves but those all around us as well.

Title: Sing

Narrator: Andi Arndt

Format: Unabridged

Length: 6 hrs and 18 mins

Language: English

Release date: 06-02-16

Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Limited

Genres: Teens, Fiction & Literature

Publisher's Summary:

America's most famous pop star flees the spotlight to recover from her latest break-up in Maine - only to fall for a local boy and be faced with an impossible choice at the end of the summer: her new guy, or her music.

Multi-platinum pop icon Lily Ross's biggest hits and biggest heartbreaks (because they are one and the same):

But this summer's going to be different. After getting her heart shattered, Lily is taking herself out of the spotlight and heading to a small island in middle-of-nowhere Maine with her closest friends. She has three months to focus on herself, her music, her new album. Anything but guys.

That is...until Lily meets sweet, down-to-earth local Noel Bradley, who is so different from anyone she's ever dated. Suddenly, Lily's 'summer of me' takes an unexpected turn, and she finds herself falling deeper and harder than ever before. But Noel isn't interested in the limelight. She loves Noel-but she loves her fans, too. And come August, she may be forced to choose.

Members Reviews:

Sweet

Lily Ross sings about her love life and an uplifting tribute album to her perfect relationship is about to come out. When her boyfriend leaves her Lily is heartbroken and she needs a change. She wants to find herself again and she'd like to write some new songs. She doesn't want to depend on men any longer. That's why she decides to spend her summer on a small island together with her best friends. It's time to heal and to get some rest after years of hard work.

Lily loves the peace and quiet of the island and it's nice to be able to breathe a little. There are fans, but not hordes of them and she can leave the house on her own if she likes. When she tries to make the most of her newfound freedom she meets Noel. Noel is a local who spends all of his time on the island. Lily isn't looking for a new man in her life, but they get along well, so they meet as often as they can. Noel doesn't like the spotlights though and Lily has to start performing again soon. Will things end with more heartbreak or is there a chance for Lily to find what she's looking for?

Sing is a cute story about a famous singer who needs some time to reflect. After another breakup Lily has to learn how to be herself again. I loved the idea of a small, peaceful island where people don't care if someone's famous or not. It's the perfect place for something unexpected to happen. Vivi Greene's vivid descriptions are making it easy to picture Lily's new temporary surroundings. Lily has a lot to consider, life in general, work, friends and love. Being famous doesn't mean she doesn't have the same wishes as anybody else. She's unhappy and she wants to find a way to feel better again. I liked that idea and the fact that she's consciously working on having a good future is interesting.

Vivi Greene shows that famous people are as human as everybody else. Fame brings money and status, but the downside is that often it also results in loneliness, lack of privacy and unequal relationships. Vivi Greene focuses on the sad part of it and balances it with something new and unexpected, meeting Noel and finding someone who likes Lily for who she is. That's sweet and lovely. I really liked this book.
