Hard to put down

I've heard people talking about this book for a while, having only heard good things about it, so when I finally got round to picking it up I opted for the audio version as it was narrated by Charlie Sanderson, I've listened to other books she's narrated and I love the emotion she brings to the story.

This is my first book by Sara Barnard though so despite the recommendations I really had no idea what to expect.

I loved Caddy right away, I think many years ago I was Caddy, longing to experience all the things the world tells us we should be experiencing, wanting to be more interesting, but not knowing how to do that. But I felt like Caddy was lost, looking for purpose. When Caddys best friend Rosie first introduces her to Suzanne Caddy is incredibly insecure, worried that she'll lose Rosie to the more confidant, more beautiful Suzanne. But when Caddy learns Suzannes secret she begins to realise that perhaps maybe there's room for another friend in her life.

Beautiful Broken Things was indeed a fantastic read, filled with the highs and lows of friendships, happy moments, sad moments, utterly heartbreaking moments and all the real moments in between. Barnard has given us an in-depth look at the lives of three girls who have more than just boys on their mind, despite Caddys determination to lose her virginity, and has gotten to the nitty gritty of Suzannes secret, but without sensationalising it or diminishing its impact. And without waving a magic wand and making it all better. I will certainly be looking to purchase a paperback copy for my shelf and will be looking out for more from Barnard.

What one does for love, and those who help.

This writer has gained a star from me with this book. A lot of improvement over her previous books. This is somewhat of a page turner, with who will be killed next, what/who the female led gang will attack. Then, the Sheriff of Brimstone, tired of being laughed at about being single, decides to put an ad in the local paper for a bride then things get really tense. Can we believe Redtail Annie is to be trusted that she has changed and given up her gang for love? Her gang doesn't believe she plans to continue to ride with them, so they come to settle the score with her and Tex, the Sheriff and her husband. Gunfight results. Tex learns her true identity and takes a surprising step to keep Annie from being hanged. A good read.

Enlightening story about criminals in the old west.

This book gave a realistic look at the criminal element of life in the old west. We start by meeting Redtail Annie, the leader of a famous outlaw gang. Annie planned all the robberies. A new one every time the gang's money got low. The gang thought nothing of killing anybody who got in their way during the robberies. She got the idea of robbing the bank in Brimstone. Her way into the town to get the information they needed to break into the bank was to marry the sheriff, Tex Wilson. The idea came to her after reading an ad Tex put in the paper looking for a wife. After writing back and forth for months they agreed to marry. So off Annie went to Brimstone. Oh yeah, during their correspondence she didn't let on anything about her outlaw life but used her real name, Annie Portson.

Boy meets girl, boy makes some dumb decisions

If you've ever been interested in marine biology, this might be the book for you.

If you're looking for a solid YA romance, though, you might find it lacking.

Jake and Hannah meet in one of those kismet situations, and, for him, it's love at first sight. he's the kind of guy who would drop everything to be with the woman he loves. Hannah, though, has a bit more drive. She wants to be a marine biologist, and nothing will deter her from her goals.

These two don't have much in common. That wouldn't be a problem if they did at least meet on some sort of fundamental ground, but I never felt like that happened. I spent most of this book thinking, "What does she see in him? Why is he so hot to be with her?"

Jake makes some dumb decisions as far as Hannah is concerned. She, though, is more about Goals, so her decisions regarding him are more practical. I liked her, I liked him, but I didn't like them enough. This is one of those books where I kept reading because I wanted to connect with the story or characters, but I rarely did. The big plot twist wasn't all that twisty to me. Or maybe I didn't care enough.

I am giving it three stars, though, because I kept reading. I liked Jake enough that I wanted to see if he could sort himself out, and I wanted to find out what happened between him and Hannah. I was just let wanting more when it was over.

Wonderful

I was very surprised by this book. When I was considering whether or not to read it and even at the beginning of the book, I thought that it would just be some random and totally fake teen novel about the power of "love at first sight". I never expected it to be so full of faith and inspiring messages. Don't get me wrong, it still seemed a bit cheesy and unrealistic, but I easily looked past that and saw the entire picture. I would certainly recommend this to readers of all sorts. It was a truly wonderful story.

Wow is all I can say!!

This was an amazing suspensful book. It really makes you think. Through out the book ive thought about my own ways and religous veiws and how so many people around me only pray for finacial support and selfishness which is why I lost intrest in my faith. I dont look at love as a matter of a peice of paper and age and finacial background. I fell in love at 13/14 and still going (im 18). I wish there was more to read. Couldnt put the book down read in one day I feel as upset about the book being over just as upset I was about Harry Potter lol. Deffenetly recommend to many different aged kids its a great leason as well as a great read!!!

A great book

I rate this book all time seller. I absolutely LOVED this book! I was thinking about everything that was going on and while reading this book young readers really can kinda relate to it. it really makes you want to read more, and for someone who doesn't like to read at all like me will then you know it was a good book I f I'd rate this book all 5 stars and recommend all young adult girl s to read this book.! An Amazing Experience!

I thought this book was amazing. From the first few chapters I was instantly hooked and kept reading till I was done. The anticipation kept building as I couldn't wait to find out what would happen as the story progressed. While reading this book and hearing the religious part to it just made it even better! As I was at a wedding some short hours ago i heard some of what was talked about in the book, and yes, a strong relationship is one that is centered around God. I'm deffinately going to show this to friend as this book is directed to my age group. Deffinately a great read!!

Quite Touching -- Incredibly Enjoyable

'Arousing Love' is indeed an inspiring love story. I enjoyed reading of their seemingly doubtful love immensely, and I do hope those who read this story are just as touched as I was, especially younger individuals. This is a rather incredibly written story that includes a great and equal combination of a love at first sight, enduring temptations that will undoubtedly arise, handling hard times no matter how threatening they may seem, trusting in what you want most and giving it your all.

Entertaining and suspenseful

Would you listen to Gifted again? Why?

Yes, the voice is pleasant so even if I already finished listening to the book and know the storyline, it takes me on the journey again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Miles Kavin because he seems down to earth with some humor. I also liked his brother.

What about Naomi Kims performance did you like?

She was able to vary the characters' personality without changing too much of her voice. I was able to visualize who was speaking and even what they could look like.

She was a little breath-y but the tone and timing made up for it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really. The book seems to be the first of the series so it is just in the introduction phase of the series. I was mostly curious and I was just introduced to the different characters. I am curious about what will happen in the next book.

Any additional comments?

It was a 6 hour long audiobook but it went fast.

The Yearbook Committee is being described as this generationâs The Breakfast Club and I can see why! The setting for this novel takes place in a private school. Five Year 12 students are thrown together onto the yearbook committee and we get to read about their progress over the entire school year.

The story is told from the perspective of each of the members of the yearbook committee who are all dealing with their own personal issues while they are completing their final year of high school. Despite the fact that almost none of them are on the committee by choice they gradually form friendships with each other and put together a pretty amazing yearbook.

The Yearbook Committee tackles some serious issues. Bullying is a major theme, and itâs the kind of insidious, relentless gossip that is unfortunately far too common among females. It can be so difficult to pinpoint or deal with and I think Ayoub did a brilliant job of depicting it realistically. This kind of bullying has always been around in high schools (and some workplaces!), but it can be so much worse when it moves online. The problem with the internet is that everything on it is permanent and public. So, unlike the pre-internet days when you could go home from school and it didnât exist bullying now follows teenagers everywhere they go, even when they graduate! Apologies for the rant here, but itâs a subject dear to my Internet Communications geek heart. Getting back on topic, brilliant job by the author to raise such an important issue in the language that teenagers will pay attention to!

This novel also tackles such issues as family and peer pressure, mental illness, self-esteem issues, gender stereotyping and questions about friendships, decency and life after school. And it is all presented in a non-preachy and brilliant story with interesting and well-developed characters that teenagers and YA fans will fall in love with. Bonus points from me because it was set in Sydney with many references to my hometown, Melbourne.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Mae Ruling does an amazing job bring Daniele's characters to life. The emotions she carries as see is narrating helps you feel how each character is feeling.

What did you like best about this story?

I have read the book before and listening to the book helped me fall in love with everyone in the story even more. You get a true since of how Daniele was feeling as she was writing the story. I loved how you hear it in Mae's voice as she was reading the part about Alec climbing the ladder to get to the roof to talk to Skylar.

Have you listened to any of Mae Rulings other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first Mae Ruling books and I can't wait to listen to more books by her. I hope she doesn't more work with Daniele. They are a great team.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

How she handled the part with Mike and the shooting? Just like when I was reading the book myself I was in tears again. Bring back so many memories from my years in Jr/Middle school.

If you have not read the book yet and love audible books this is a great one to own. I hope that Daniele works with Mae Ruling again for the second book in the series Catch Me If I Fall.

You Never Know Where You'll Find Your Second Chance

A SECOND CHANCE.

Havenât we all needed one of those from time to time? Certainly, this was truer for seventeen-year-old River Dean than for most of us. Heâd taken his girlfriend Penny Brockaway out for a paddle boat ride, and right thereâas they bobbed in the middle of Echo Park Lakeâshe dumped hm.

Why? Heâd had no idea this was comingâtheyâd been dating forever, it seemed, and everything appeared to be going wellâand then this bombshell.

âYou donât think about things. You just follow along and do what you think youâre supposed to.â

Well. What was there to think about, when you get right down to it? River was dating a beautiful girl from a wealthy family. This girl and her family loved him, and everything had been rolling along just fine. And what wasnât to follow along with? Great story

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Space in Between?

When Moira realized she she was a strong person and didn't need pills to help her out with her ADHD.

What does Karen Krause bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

She does an awesome job of bringing the story to life

I read this book when it was first published but it has been a while so I had actually forgotten everything that happened. It was wonderful visiting this awesome world the author created. I was also intrigued to learn there is a lot about Phoenix in religious lore.

Unique romance story

The story is different than anything I have ever read. It is interesting and the characters are well developed. The author did an amazing job creating the in between space/world. It took me a bit longer than usual to be sucked in by the story.

Moira is a great character and Patrick seems like he wants to change and mold her into someone else. He is a horrible listener.

On the other hand, Hayko is the opposite and slowly steals her heart. He likes her the way she is and encourages her to be herself. The problem is that he is not real or is he? Is he dead? Is she the one to help him cross over?

The narrator did a good job. The story is told mostly is Moira's POV. The conclusion wraps things up nicely and ends in a positive note. No Cliffhangers.

Way better than I thought it would be

This is SO not my kind of book but I cannot turn down anything set in Wales (my family is mostly Welsh). I was so surprised how much I liked it. The space in between was not a huge stretch of the imagination and kind of made sense. I read a couple of reviews that think this is not a complete book, just a first in a series. Perhaps they are right, but I thought it complete and a great ending. The main character is likeable as is her family. The relationship with her boyfriend is fresh and believable.

I would read more by this author and the narrator did a good job.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
