Excellent Book for Beginning Readers

Initially purchased for a young neice, we are keeping it for ourselves in anticipation of our son's birth in the spring (someone else had already bought it for her).

LOVE this book. The writing is creative and fun (even for the adults!), the illustrations are captivating, and best of all, the writing does not talk down to the child. If you are a parent looking for a book that maintains a draw for children while teaching them words not typically found in a new reader's vocabulary, then this book is for you. I look forward to purchasing more of the series for our son to grow up with.

Love Splat the Cat!

I purchased this book for my five year old grandson. I did not know he already had a Splat the Cat book and he was thrilled to receive this one. This is on my list to buy him another Splat book. So cute and the storylines are entertaining.

Weird story, but cute book

We have all the previous Splat books, so we HAD to get this one. The story is a bit odd to me, but my three year old loves it, so I guess that's what counts. The illustrations are still lovely though, just like all the other books.

Great children's books.

Love these books for their teaching quality, however, I have noticed, the author tries to over simplify, and it sometimes comes across in reading aloud as a fleeting thought...SQUIRREL!....sort of read. Still, my kids love them.

Another great Splat book

We LOVE Splat the Cat in our house. My son pretends to be a spy, and I thought he would enjoy this book. Once again, Rob Scotton has another great Splat book. My son really enjoyed this book, and I think we read it every night for a week. Can't wait for the next great Splat adventure!

We borrowed this book from the library and it was read/renewed so many times that I finally bought it. Engaging storyline, colorful illustrations - highly recommend!

UPDATE: The book I originally ordered and received was 10.5 x 0.4 x 9 inches. For whatever reason, the size of this book has now shrunk. I was very surprised when I re-ordered a hardcover copy for our school library (October 2016) and it arrived as half the original size: 6 x7 inches! Disappointing. I am leaving this as a 5-star review though because this is still a great book for K-1st graders. The new dimensions are accurately listed, however, when I've ordered repeat copies of a book, I've never seen one shrink in size like this, so buyer beware. The paperback is still the same size as the original (10.5 x 9 inches).

very cute

Our 2 year old granddaughter repeatedly asks to watch the DVD of A Very Brave Witch, all year not just at Halloween, so we thought we'd give her the book. Good choice, she loves it.

Just a great, great book for kids

I bought 10 of them and gave them to all the nieces and nephews for the Holidays. The story is cute, the illustrations are amazing. Bliss packs a lot of funny goodies into the backgrounds for parents as well. Its a real fun read, and the kids loved it cause there is so much there to find during multiple readings. Buy one or 10, you won't be disapointed.

Excellent Narration

Would you consider the audio edition of The Brave Tin Soldier and Other Fairy Tales to be better than the print version?

Yes. David Tennant performance was of course as spectacular as his theater and TV performances.

Another cute story at the Bed and Biscuit

My dog-obsessed mother loves these books! This was one of the few Scottish Terrier items she did not have, so it was only natural that I would buy this for her. I won't say too much about the book, because the real story behind my purchase relates to receiving the first-ever-damaged-in-transit item I have received from Amazon. I opened the box to find both this book and the other Bed and Biscuit book I had purchased smeared with ink. I am guessing that the packing slip may have still been wet when placed in the box, or may have gotten wet when being shipped. I contacted customer service right away, and Amazon staff promptly sent new copies of the books along with a prepaid return mailer to send back the damaged copies. I received the new copied in time for Mother's Day, and was extremely pleased with how smoothly the return was handled.

It did not meet my expectations. The book was supposed to be in Spanish and it was in English.

Adults or Kids, ENJOY!

As an adult teaching myself Spanish, I purchased this book. I loved the story and the adorable illustrations/drawings which helped make it easy to learn/understand as I read. Definitely a fun read for everyone!

Overall pretty good

Of course, any Clifford fan will be happy with this book, especially those toddlers. The story is nice, the translation into Spanish is good, and if you want your toddler to learn Spanish, this is a good little book to have in your library. However, I didn't like the illustrations. The cover depicts Clifford as we are used to seeing him, but the illustrations inside are of poorer quality, and seem to be early editions of what the characters look like now. Anyway, the toddler may not even notice, but I did.

Clifford is always fun, and this book didn't disappoint our 4 yr. old Honduran guest.

She loved the book. Illustrations exactly like the English version.

Fancy Nancy has to make cupcakes for a school bake sale, and this colorfully illustrated book lets her tell her story and share some vocabulary words, like exhausted and velvet. I's a simple story geared toward new readers and Nancy learns a lesson about paying attention when people are talking to her. It's a cute, short tale with illustrations and will appeal to fans of Fancy Nancy.

My daughers (11, 8 and 6) enjoy this cute book! The sentences are more simple, but the words are big and challenging at times. Go with the "My First" I Can Read! books for emerging readers...the level 1 is for kids who can already read well.

Fancy Nancy does it again

Another "exquisite" book on Fancy Nancy. My granddaughter now uses "fancy" words, at age 4, in the appropriate way, thanks to a clever series of Fancy Nancy books. What a unique idea!This book just had to be added to my granddaughter's collection. If you get these books for your little girl, they will be a guaranteed "hit".

My grandson loves this book

My almost 4 year old grandson loves the Fancy Nancy books. I had this one on my iPad and we read it often during a family vacation. He especially loves the "fancy" words and we ate al fresco many times and talked about constellations. The drawings are very sweet and he liked seeing the little sister putting stars on the underside of the table and on herself.

Great resource for Listening Centers

I use this in my listening center as my students LOVE Fancy Nancy. Only one complaint is that the page turning signals are not loud enough for all my students to hear at the listening center. It is a delicate sound and should be a sound that stands out more so they know when to turn the page. Love how it goes over the vocabulary page, too.
