Great series especially for homeschooling families !
We are a homeschool family ourselves and I was excited to provide a book for my kids that actually features a homeschool family. My daughter (9) got this for her birthday and it was a very quick, light read for her, nevertheless she loved it and enjoyed their little adventure and would like to read more from them. She knows many homeschool families and lifestyles like the one, the Wright family has chosen and thought it was great that they can travel a lot. She enjoyed the tips on mining and that the kids get to do a lot of unschooling. The author has a nice touch to include facts about Arizona, animals and geology and the included drawings were great. I read only a few parts in the actual book myself and while I understand some issues with the language ( freaky cool ) it was not a big deal to me and found nothing disturbing. Maybe the stories are a little too dreamy and perfect, but sometimes it is just nice to give your child something " dreamy " and "perfect" and yet adventurous to read without having to address other issues in the book or story line. Only reason why I did not give it 5 stars was, that it was a little short for the quick readers in our family ;)
Homeschoolers in fiction
I am hoping my daughter loves this book. We are homeschoolers, so there aren't a lot of books out on the market about homeschoolers, much less fiction books that have homeschoolers as the main characters. This should be good!
My 8 y/o boy really enjoyed this book
My 8 y/o boy really enjoyed this book. I have bought other chapter books for him in different series ,but this is the first one he looked forward to reading, could read with out much assistance, and could identify with.
Will definitely be buying the other books in the series.
Great story for homeschool families
Cute story. Read it to my 11, 9, and 7 year old homeschool kiddos while Dad traveled to Arizona on business. Definitely made them jealous of Dad's adventures. I'll be researching whether such a "cave rental" is feasible. Sounds intriguing!
A series about homeschoolers
Great for a homeschooling child. I just wish they'd have more out already.
