Just a biography

I thought it would've been more interesting than a biography but apparently I've mistaken the title

Wouldn't bother

Not worth the time or money: the author has no real feeling for Heidegger's thought, and is wrong on a number of points. The general attitude of the book to its subject is perfectly exemplified in the disparaging ham-accent the narrator puts on in imitation of what -- I presume -- he imagines Heidegger's comportment to have been. Very disappointing.

Informative and entertaining

This was a great little book. It is quite critical of Heidegger and his thought. Read in light of more recent ideas such as criticisms of scientitism it is nonetheless a very interesting and enlightening read

The Wisdom Book

This is an inspiring book for reference and consulting as needed. Mahatma Gandhi, the champion of freedom, non-violence, and Truth spoke many timeless words of wisdom during his lifetime. This book compiles selected profound sayings that can be applied to everyday life.

The author gives a good introduction to Gandhi Ji at the beginning of the book. For those who may not have read the philosophy of Gandhi, it is very important to read this biographical intro.

The book can be kept on the desk for `moral support'. Each page has one or more quotes, so opening any page and simply reading a quote and contemplating on it can be thought provoking.

Invaluable Sayings of a Sage Compiled.

'My writings should me cremated with my body', that is what the Mahatma said. But the sutras (sayings) of Gandhi have an immortal value though they may not be always witty or even epigrammatic. This book is a collection of his sayings on subjects as varied as 'democracy' and 'brahmacharya'. The brief introduction gives a short biography of Gandhi and highlights his relevance in the world today. This book is indeed a welcome addition to the host of literature about Gandhi.

The Wisdom of Gibran: Aphorisms and Maxims

I actually had this down loaded onto my Kindle, as I have a niece that has Lung cancer and spends a lot of time in Chemo. She had the book and had read it so much that it was falling apart, this way she can take it with her and read it over and over as many times as she would like.

It is amazing how this book has influenced her life and her outlook on life.

A must read.

Wisdom Quotes From Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931 A. D), the wisdom poet, is well-known for his romantic poems, but he had a lot to say on different human issues. Here is a book-full of his aphorisms and maxims quoted from 13 of his works. The philosophy in his poems may be connected to the two loves that he lost because of his poverty, but he was a brilliant philosopher, which his writings have come to express.

The quotes are arranged alphabetically, documenting the source. This is a great book to keep handy and refer to any time one needs inspiration.

Wet sleeve

This book should have been wrapped differently as it arrived with a wet sleeve. It was stormy and mailbox had blown open. If it had been in plastic, this problem would have been avoided. It was a gift and I explained to the recipiant what had happened. <:-(
