I am definitely a layperson but I do enjoy medicine & science

I don't usually read non-fiction, but when I do I want it to be both informative and hopeful. This book is so much of both that I hope a followup is written in a few years once the various studies are starting to wrap up.

I am definitely a layperson but I do enjoy medicine & science. For the most part this book was easy to follow and understand. A few of the concepts were a bit beyond my grasp, but I still understood the "why" of what was going on even if I didn't understand exactly "how" things worked. What is important about this book is that it made me excited for the future of medicine. Of the 11 most recent deaths in my family 8 were from cancer and 2 were heart disease. Incredible research is being done on both of those diseases with many of the things they are doing sounding more like science fiction than real life.

If you enjoy science or medicine you should definitely try this book out. I found myself starting conversations with people about the topics I read in this book because the information is too good not to pass on.

Great look at a future of medicine

I loved this book. Robin Smith and Max Gomez carefully but simply explain the science behind cell therapy. But while the title of the book gives the impression that the book is about a miracle cure for everything, the authors are actually very careful not to overpromise. They stick very closely to what the science actually is but also will give the wider implications. I like that type of science writing - this is what we know now and this is where it can go. At one point, the authors take a little detour away from cell therapy to talk about aging but it was well written so I didnât mind. And near the end of the book, the authors again strayed away from cell therapy specifically, to talk about some broader issues in medical research, and this was my favorite part of the book.

Another Crack in the Berlin Wall

This is yet another in a line of PRO-evolution books by highly credible, mainstream biologists who are stepping forward one by one and insisting that The Emperor really does have no clothes.

Turner is not in any way, shape or form opposed to the idea of evolution itself. Heâs no creationist. In fact he insists we are obligated to study and understand purpose, just to even make sense of evolution itself. And there are so many mechanisms we need to study.

I recently talked to a grad student who dares not advocate teleology in nature until his career is on safer footing. I have consulted in 300 industries and I have never encountered a field more choked with fear and political correctness than evolutionary biology.

Fortunately it seems more and more scientists are getting away with calling a spade a spade. Itâs about time, because this nonsense has been going on far too long. Fodorâs âWhat Darwin Got Wrongâ and James Shapiroâs âEvolution: A View from the 21st Centuryâ were among the first to breach the wall. Suzan Mazurâs books chronicled the schism between old-school Darwinism and evolution experiments by top researchers, nearly 10 years ago. More recently, Denis Nobleâs âDance to the Tune of Life: Biological Relativityâ has joined the chorus. Systems biology is on the rise.

10-15 years ago, detractors were limited to creationists and Intelligent Design advocates. But today, dissent comes from many eminent scientists with impeccable credentials. Before, scientists risked losing their careers. Today, the strength of the Neo-Darwinians is fading.

The 2016 Evolution meeting at the Royal Society in London was the first time a major conference was entirely devoted to asking whether new mechanisms can be shoe-horned into Neo-Darwinism, or if the theory must be rebuilt from the ground up.

So awful

This is so many layers of horrible I don't even know where to start. The chapters aren't titled so you can't skip forward to the relevant chapter very easily. THE SOUND QUALITY IS SO BAD! This guys voice is somehow altered electronically and it is so difficult to listen to. I wish I didn't waste my money on this garbage.

Terrible rendition of a useful book

This is a good introduction to A&P but the reading is so dreadful it ruins it. It sounds as though its being read by a machine (although it isnt) - the phrasing and pronunciation is so bad that in places you cant really understand whats being said. If I could return it I would. Dont waste your money.

Very disappointing

What disappointed you about Anatomy and Physiology: The University Student Survival Guide to Ace Anatomy and Physiology?

The audio book is basic, which is fine, but the narrator is awful.

Technically is not very good either.

Modern scholar series tend to be good.

I only got half way through and could not listen to any more.
