This audiobook is awful. Not sure who is reading it but it will put you to sleep with the monotone voice and how the same thing being repeated over and over and over and over....

Just save your money there are a lot better books out there.

This book does not deliver on its title

While this book does not deliver on its title and is slow, it does have some valuable points. For example "It's often not about being right, but about convincing others that you are worth listening to."

Best Common Sense Communication Book

I have read many books of this type, this is the best. I have met the author and he is just as you would image, a no nonsense guy who wants you to communicate better, that't it. There is no hidden ageda with this book, read it and try to do what it says and you will be a better communicator.

Worthy of a Medal

This is a terrific book. I enjoyed reading it and will recommend it to others. What it takes to be successful in life, career and relationships is laid out in easy to understand language. Focus, commitment, sacrifice, honesty, loyalty

are all important components. Some of us were brought up in an atmosphere of these principles and they are familiar to us, others need to be reminded of them again and again.

Thank you Col. Bender for writing this. You deserve a Medal for it!

Good book very easy read.

Correct , effective, doable

This book fired me up! I read a lot of books on personal development as I am the host for a radio show that focuses on personal and business success. Unless the book has good stuff in it, I won't feature it. "Operation Excellence" is more than just good. It's got a "charge" to it that ignites the spirit to believe that most anything CAN be achieved and accomplished in. That's why I wanted to write this review.

The anecdotes are perfect serve well to help make Lt. Col. Bender's points crystal clear. The writing style is comfortable and smooth. I am very impressed with "Operation Excellence". I must be. I rarely write reviews for books I feature on my show on Amazon, or any other internet book site. So when I do it means I am VERY enthused about what I believe it offers to everyday people looking for valid, strong, understandable, doable keys for Living In Success.

A very good beginning, but failed to keep it till the end, and not really military

I like Part One (4 chapters) of this book discussing Motivation, Discipline, Confidence and Sacrifice very much. As far as I can recall, there's no other self improvement book I had read (tens of them) that emphasized so much the equivalence of discipline to habit building through tough training/exercise, and committment to sacrifice. The self-question sessions named "Train Tough Challenge" after each chapter are quite intelligent and helpful. However, I am sorry to comment that the other three parts or 12 chapters were much less attractive. The author did not write as skilfully and vividly as the average self help book writers.

Avoid this book. Dry, boring and nothing new. I listened for an hour and a half before dropping it. On Amazon there are 12 reviews of 5 star, however for almost all of them this is their only review. It deserves a 0 rating but gave it 1 so others know it was rated.

Great Book

Almost everyone will find themselves unemployed at some time in their working life. That can be the time when you think about a career transition. One of the great things about this book is it walks you through the emotional side of career loss into a new job. Also talks about the barreris you might put up and how to find the power to get past them.

Helpful guide during job transition

In my 15 year professional corporate career, I have gone through enough job transitions to understand that reading career development books is part of life and re-enforcement of the skills I fortunately already have. I came across this book in my library. I liked it a lot and book was given to me as a gift a couple of years back. Author is from Chicago and many of the "cases" she discusses in the book are local Chicago residents going through a job transition.

It does not matter if your job transition is voluntary or involuntary. The effort of finding the next job (or a career) and emotional stress during the search is nevertheless the same. Author explains that loosing a job is a grieving process and one goes through the same stages of grief as if your dear friend, or a family member died. Additionally, the job search process has three phases. I have learned a new trick about four basic types of personalities and how to spot them during interview.

This author will not give you examples of what questions to ask during the interview, but she will teach you how to learn about yourself, understand your strenghts and weaknesses and play them in the game of job search. She also has a recommendaton on how to de-stress: music therapy, journaling, workout, yoga and meditation. She also believes that order of one's surroundings is important and de-cluttering space frees oneself with more personal freedom to venture into the unknown.

Author apparently is an Oprah fan (which I am not) and likes some of the general public best sellers - which I do not share with her. But the unique thing about this book is that it is sincere in desire to help people with the job transition and explores every aspect of life, psyche and personality so that individual can conquer them when it is the most important: during job interview, stressful situations at work, or at home and during any other changes in life that are significant.

Awful!!

I have no idea how this book was created. I have NEVER shut down an audible selection without at least getting halfway through it. This one was unbearable. At one point the author is literally explaining in depth how an ipod is organized with playlists and favorites. Keep in mind, most of us are listening to this on an ipod or mp3 player. The other chapters were no better. Very, very, poor content!

Create Your Own Economy (Unabridged)

This book really is aweful, as the other review said. It is more a book about autism than anything else. I thought I would be taught how to determine market need and come up a with revolutionary product or service that might have the potential of being the next Facebook... but there isn't a bit of this type of discussion in the book. Do yourself the favor of skipping this book.

Title is misleading

The author integrated two big topics (title topic and autism) into one book, and ends up in a confusing, disappointing mediocrity and at times a confusing and wandering sermon. Both of his topics have great merit, each deserved the author's separate attention (in two books) and he seems to have the capability to deliver, if within a singular focus. Unfortunately too much of that focus seems to be going to himself.

I feel tricked....

Title is misleading. This book seemed more an education of autism than economics or business. Granted, the author's points were made but could have been done in 3 less hours. The content was higher level thinking but the deliver assumed you had been living under a rock for 20 years and provided too much detail to make points.

Take a pass on this one unless you want to learn more about the unique skills of autistics, thus allowing you to have more tolerance of someone different than the 'norm'.

Just Don't

The best thing about this book is it's title. Don't get sucked in like I did, just move along to something of substance.

Very helpful...to the point and well-written. Provided valuable, basic information on doing business in China. I would recommend this title for anyone who needs an overview of the culture and quick soundbites on important business practices in China.

Some good tips but needs context & better Chinese!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Useful basic tips if you've never been to China and don't have local advisors--don't finish everything on the plate, study business cards and handle them respectfully, expect to exchange a little gift on 1st meeting, relationships matter a lot, use titles and last names rather than defaulting to American informality, never wear a green hat, avoid 4's and favor 8's, better to stay upbeat and avoid

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Chinese names and words are often--maybe usually--mispronounced in recordings on Audible.com, regardless it seems of publisher. That's a problem.
