Samantha is a high-powered lawyer in London. She works all hours, has no home life, and cares only about getting a partnership. She thrives on the pressure and adrenalin. Until one day...she makes a mistake. A mistake so huge it'll wreck her career. She goes into meltdown, walks right out of the office, gets on the first train she sees, and finds herself in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she is mistaken for the interviewee housekeeper and finds herself being offered the job. They have no idea they've hired a Cambridge-educated lawyer with an IQ of 158 - and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven.

Light and Easy - very enjoyable
If you could sum up The Undomestic Goddess in three words, what would they be?
Fun, light and easy
What other book might you compare The Undomestic Goddess to and why?
Just pick any other Sophie Kinsella/Madeline Wickham story (Shopaholic series, Twenties-Girl) - like a TV sitcom. Makes you laugh, easy to follow and you can pick the story up very quickly.
What about Phoebe Jamess performance did you like?
I did enjoy Phoebe James's performance - I do like the English narrators as these stories are so
If you could take any character from The Undomestic Goddess out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The main character - Samantha Sweeting. The up and coming brilliant lawyer who makes the biggest mistake possible and in a haze of fog and in shock, flees the city and ends up working as a housekeeper to a slightly neurotic
Any additional comments?
Fun story for the light-hearted. A very enjoyable story - great for first timer's getting into Audobooks.
Good read
Although the ending was a bit abrupt, it was overall an entertaining book and highly recommendable for a light read
An unlikely plot made plausible
There is nothing wrong with an unlikely series of coincidences as Bronte's Jane Eyre proves, and although there's nothing quite as far fetched in here, the basic premise of a lawyer who can't cook turning into a housekeeper never fails to engage.
This is a fun book, that gently makes fun equally of the 'working class' rich and less gently of the urban snobs of the city.
The rural idyll is perhaps a little overdone, but it's a fun listen and there are enough twists and turns to keep you hooked.
An amazing little number not in black!
I enjoyed this from being to end. The undomestic goddess had me laughing, and by the end shouting out loud for her not to do it!. It's very well written but you'll be begging for more chapters when you get to the end.
Give the book a better chance
An easy listen and quite a good story but spoilt by the reader! - so many times a good book is spoilt by the reader, I sometimes wonder how they get the job!
