Useful phrases, no grammar and first person only

A very simple format, but works well. Each chapter targets a subject (customs, hotel, shopping, asking for help, etc). You hear the english phrase and the french twice; the first slow and phonetic, the second at normal french pace. All phrases are in the first person or the formal you; I could have done with some 'we' and 'our' too. There was no explanation of any grammar, just the phrases. The gaps are about right, but I kept my finger on the pause button. I don't think it's suitable for a complete beginner, unless you also have something else aswell. It is a great refresher though and I found it very useful in building my confidence prior to a trip.

Quick & Easy

I bought this before I went travelling and found it a quick and easy way to learn the lingo. Strongly recommend it.

Unusable Format

This might be a good course, but the software that you are requred to use will not permit formatting to your own device - as permitted under "fair use" provision of the US Copyright Act. I was not able to download a version for my particular MP3 player or create a CD for use in the car. I do not recommend buying anything the uses the new Amazon software.

Tacky but different.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I'm glad I listened to it as I was curious but I found it tacky.

I'm not the target audience for this but I'd've probably hated it when I was a kid too. I found the presentation tacky and contrived. still, it's a different approach for children which may well work for some and I believe in freedom of choice and one method of teaching works for some children and not for others.
