    Difficult to listen to.
Too academic and a bit anachronistic. Of course no-one doubts the accuracy of the author's writings, it is just difficult to follow. Monotonous narrating doesn' t help either.

    Publisher's Summary:
A provocative, challenging, and irreverent expose' of the obnoxious arrogance inherent in all religious thinking: condemning one another to eternal torment, relegating women and gays to second class citizenship, dividing humanity into arbitrary factions, sexual repression, denial of knowledge, promoting delusions of god and the afterlife, upholding phony patriarchal authority, claiming eternal truth without evidence, and child indoctrination. Religion is not good for the human race. We would be better off dropping these bad habits on which we give religion a free pass. We must stop lying to our children that religions are true. Dr. Zingrone is a college instructor and secular activist with a PhD in Developmental Psychology exploring research interests in cognitive development and evolution. His driving motivation is to dispel outdated religious based ideas about human nature that are ingrained in the folk beliefs of our modern culture.

The Arrogance of Religious Thought: Information Kills Religion
The potential of the âThe New Enlightenment,â is compared to the problems with religion in The Arrogance of Religious Thought: Information Kills Religion. The New Enlightenment is associated with our evolutionary nature that includes a lot of compassion and tolerance to others; it is also associated with modern society, democratic processes, and reliance on knowledge and science. In contrast, problems that religions around the world are causing are given in detail. âWe could be living in a society like Gaza and the Middle East and Africa, where religious thought controls nearly your every move and retards progress on nearly every front.â Thus, there is a call to âEnd Religion Nowâ. The book ends with developments in The New Enlightenment associated with leaders such as Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. William A Zingrone (Dr. of Developmental Psychology) should be added to this list! This book is a great read; you will appreciate the very lively style.
tell it like it is approach dares to call out religion for ...
Zingrone delivers a unique and authentic perspective in calling for an end to religion in The Arrogance of Religious Thought. His no holds barred, tell it like it is approach dares to call out religion for what it is and will appeal to all generations.
For those "on the fence" regarding religious belief, please read this book!
An extremely well-researched deliberation on how religion is a hindrance to the progress of humanity. Directing his justifiable indignation toward those who presume religion to be the only answer, Dr. Zingrone pulls no punches when it comes to calling out those who claim to have knowledge of something which has no basis in fact, and their attempts to discredit the realities of the natural world.
He does a very thorough job of pointing out how religion is primarily responsible for people clinging to backward thinking, resulting in much of the homophobia, misogyny and sexual inhibitions prevalent in countries identified as the most religious, including the U.S.
In an age when critical thinking is essential, this book is a must-read!

This tome has a wealth of information that the author has researched regarding religions all over the world. He pays particular attention to the impact of religion on women.
