A simple law: "Those who want peace, have it." Except when they don't actually want peace. Therein lies the thesis of Stefan Bolz's latest work "The Laws of Peace." It's a quick, brief read that manages to turn the conventional wisdom of modern times on its head and quickly but effectively takes the reader through the truth of life...peace is difficult because we make it difficult. We get in our own way, shield our inner beings with layers of nonsense, and ultimately lose the truth of being: to give is to receive.

This collection of essays at first may seem too eclectic to have a point. But as one proceeds through the many and various issues drawn in this book, the reader begins to learn the skill involved in moral discernment and resolution. In a very satisfying way, the final chapter articulates the elements of this skill that the engaged reader has been practicing all along.

The 16 chapters of the Gospel of Mark can be divided into two parts, 8 chapters each. In the first 8 chapters Jesus is essentially traveling north and preaching until chapter 8. In Chapter 8, Jesus is in the city of Caesarea Philippi where He asks His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" (vs. 27). Peter replies, "You are the Christ". Throughout the last 8 chapters, Jesus is traveling south, back to Jerusalem; all the way to Calvary's Cross.

Truly an inspirational read that I will recommend to everyone! Carrie recounts 'coincidental' connections and messages on her journey in finding her true life's purpose making the story relatable and humorous. The 'My truth' section at the end of each chapter reminds us how to find the spark we need to move our lives forward, to believe in ourselves and to 'live in love'. Love is, after all, what the world needs right now! Thank you, Carrie, for motivating us to own our uniqueness and live our own truths!
