Publisher's Summary:
The local news anchor cited by some (affectionately, we hope) as the inspiration for Ron Burgundy reveals what he couldn't say on TV for 30 years. You'll see why most news reports - local and national - are a distraction from the crises both Democrats and Establishment Republicans are creating:
The solution to all this is what Jack Atherton calls The American Idea. He takes you on a breezy trip through 2,000 years of history to show how individual rights and free markets evolved. You'll see why President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and GOP leaders reject The American Idea, and whether Donald Trump or Ted Cruz really can make America great again.
The Real Anchorman's Conservative Manifesto is a great book for students seldom taught this history, and for everyone eager to be reminded why, for all our challenges, America became that shining city on a hill. Listen to it, and stay classy.

Not much more to learn if you are a student of politics. Nothing new here for me, but it would be a great and interesting read for those who want to learn more about conservatism.
Excellent Conservative Commentary
Great read, Jack is very knowledgeable when it comes to the political landscape. His views inject some much needed common sense into an environment that seems to rarely make any sense. Highly recommended.
Anchorman Redux and Redeemed
I am delighted to have this opportunity to offer some modest comments on Jack (the "real" anchorman) Atherton's splendidly compelling book, The Real Anchorman's Conservative Manifesto which delves into the complex workings of our ever-evolving American ethos and it's challenges: our current cultural and political fragmentation, our ambiguous sense of values, and an erosive economic inequality.
What exactly are our aspirations and goals as a nation and can we once again be a beacon of freedom and hope for a dysfunctional world? Framed within an historical and philosophical context, and energized with much wit and humor, Jack tackles these issues and others in this lucid and provocative "Manifesto."
The author is uniquely qualified to offer a well-reasoned, expertly crafted panorama of some of the challenges we face as a divided nation, their historic precedents and possible remedies. He has faithfully labored in the field of television journalism for thirty years, reconciling his conservative views with those of the prevailing liberal mass media and offering his viewers a finely tuned and well-balanced insight into national and world events. Prior to his journalism career, Jack practiced corporate law in New York City for seven years, studied law and journalism at Columbia, and enjoys a solid grounding in intellectual history from Yale.
And now, at the juncture of a well-earned retirement, he is ready and able to finally "tell it like it is" and offer, for example, an analysis of the ravages wrought by eight years of "hope and change" and incompetence, and the folly of the preceding administration's bungling ineptitude and his frank assessment of the current gaggle of aspirants is no less critical!
Jack Atherton's The Real Anchorman's Conservative Manifesto is at once both witty and profound, light-hearted and self-effacing, and always with a seriousness of intent with an eye to solutions.
