Stories without Titles and Authors?

What would have made Most Well-Known Children's Stories better?

Opening each chapter with the name of the story and author - and not just sung with a silly ditty. Stories cannot be searched. . . . .They are simple called chapter 1, 2, etc. And even if you try each chapter you have to listen to a sing-song introduction to see what story is included in that chapter.

What could the authors have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The authors, may they RIP, chose a title and wrote a most well-known story - too bad they are ignored!

How could the performance have been better?

A softer, more gentle and comprehensible British accent. My grandchildren, and sometime I, myself, cannot understand what is being said.

I would not have purchased this book if the actors had been more clearly described.

Not for kids!

I was disappointed when I listed to this book with my 4.5 year old. These are stories he likes... but the narrator uses a very mean, sarcastic, snarky, hateful tone of voice to read them. A tone of voice I do not want my child to learn. Also, the stories have been modified ( they are not the classics you expect ) to better fit that tone.

Perhaps these are interesting for some, but not for kids. The cover and title are misleading.

Very fun read. Gustav is a interesting author.

This story/version surprised me (in a good way). I'd always loved the story of Alice in Wonderland as a kid and I'm a big fan of Gustav's other series "Jeremy's Run". My fiancé and I live in west LA so the Jeremy's Run stories really hit home and got us thinking about escape plans, preparations, and generally got us paranoid. Kidding! Sort of... we really do love that series though.

When I saw that Gustav had put out this other "21 Century Rendition" of Alice, I was curious and figured I'd give it a read. I had read the original back in junior high I think.

So good! I mostly remember the Disney cartoon from when I was a kid and forgot that there were so many extra scenes not in the movie. I thought Gustav did a great job bringing Alice into a modern world without losing Carroll's charm. Favorite part - the dialogue between Alice and the Mouse, and Alice and the Caterpillar. Gustav added his unique philosophical musings that created a richness to the scenes that I wasn't expecting.

This is a fun, short read that I would highly recommend for kids, teens... and people who like classics. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found myself completely engaged and in many ways, liking it more than I thought I would. Great job!

I also like the image on the cover of Alice as a spunky red-head in boots rather than the blonde Disney-version. Well played.

Alice in Wonderland is definitely "not" in my genre but I thought I would give G.F. Gustav's rendition Alice's Adventures in Wonderland a try since I am a HUGE fan after reading his Jeremy's Run series. I have to say it was very readable and did not frustrate the hell out of me like the original. Enlighten and entertaining! Fun read!

Wonderful children's story

My boy is a first grader who loves books. I constantly seek books written at a level that is within his comprehension and somewhat beyond his reading skill. That way we not only share story times together, but he also is continually challenged to learn a greater vocabulary and to test his imagination. Bruce Coville's Teacher Series is fun fantasy with enough real-life children's situations in the story for young people to relate - pre-adolescent boy-girl friendships, mean kids, do-gooders, etc. The same kind of people every child can relate to through their own experience.

We are now into another in the Teacher Series. That alone should tell you what you need to know about whether this book is worthwhile. I also think these books are well-priced in the Kindle section.

Great series!

I read these when I was a kid. I remember it was the first time a book ever made me cry. They taught me that books, and their characters, can have an impact on a person. I purchased these as a gift for my young cousin. They came undamaged and beautiful. I'm looking forward to sharing this delightful story with him!

I have always remembered this book fondly and now I know why. I always related strongly to Peter not a great home life and the chance to explore. I wanted to follow him.

Great book series!

The My Teacher is an Alien series is a great collection of stories that all children will enjoy. I loved them as a child. Now as a teacher, I have enjoyed sharing the series with my students.

An example of why you need to go to a bookstore and read a kids book BEFORE purchasing. I and the kids love the click, clack stories, farmer brown, duck and all the rest. I purchased this one based on the ones prior. The kids were engaged by the wonderful, colorful illustrations, no so much for the story. I would not have purchased this book if I had read it in the bookstore.

Humor books are a great way to start children with a love for reading

Humor books are a great way to start children with a love for reading. The author is an excellent story teller, very funny. I have all her children's books for my granddaughter.

An enjoyable read.

Cronin and Lewis have done it again. They've created an adorable story about Farmer Brown and his animals. This time the focus is on the new arrival: a baby duckling. The excitement is palpable as the animals anxiously watch the egg until it hatches. But once the duckling has arrived all the animals and Farmer Brown are ready to sleep. Unfortunately, the duckling's constant peeping makes it impossible for them to sleep in the barn and so they all have to go outside to sleep. At least until duck comes up with a seemingly perfect solution. With duck though, things are never as simple as they seem. Another fun read from a consistently fun author and illustrator.

Enjoyed by toddler and parents

My 2 year old loves all of Doreen Cronin's books, especially her series of Farmer Brown and Duck books. I gave this one to her for Easter (it is not a religious or Easter book, but since it involves a little chick as the main character it seemed appropriate). All the animals are excited for the hatching of a baby chick until it keeps them up all night peeping. Duck solves the problem in a rather creative way and confuses Farmer Brown. As a mom, I found the book quite humorous, especially as my daughter doesn't like to go to sleep either.
