UNACCEPTABLE NARRATION

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

It was a wonderful story, anyone would enjoy it, had the book been read by someone that took the time to learn how to pronounce the names of the characters and the places involved.

What did you like best about this story?

I would have listened more closely and I would have corrected the narrator's mistakes in the narration before releasing the Audiobook to the public.

I regret the purchase of this book. Had this been my first audible book, it certainly would have been the LAST. The reader not only made mistakes in her narration in key parts of the book, but, was completely unable to pronounce many of the names and places. In fact, her pronunciation was so bad that it was almost impossible to understand who she was referring to, and where the events took place. Some of the names were pronounced a particular way in one chapter and then another way in a subsequent chapter. This Audible book also included a few very bad voice over edits. There are so many blunders that I will only give one laughable example; Denise Chamberlain pronounces the name Simone de Beauvoir as if this author and philosopher was Jacqueline (Bouvier) Kennedy Onassiss sister (the narrator says Simone de Bouvier) I would like my money back, this Audible book was not in the realm of acceptable. The plethora of mistakes in narration were painful to hear.

Packed with information

I suffer from chronic migraines and I am always in search of relief. A few people have suggested Botox injections, although none were from medical providers. But it did peak my interest. After reading this book, I now know all the potential and possibilities of the Botox choice. I found out everything I wanted to know and more. It is a complete guide to Botox and the affects and risks. It is very well written and I was able to understand it and I learned so much from it. It is a very interesting read and I was left feeling informed and knowing what to look for and what questions I need to ask before having it done. It can be expensive but as for me if it works and relieves my suffering it would be worth it. I have read a few books from this author and clearly he knows what he is talking about and I appreciate his work and dedication. I strongly recommend it to anyone who needs all the facts on Botox.

The information contained in this book was extremely basic. Iâm a new injector and was looking for so much more than what was offered. This would be good for a quick read for a client while waiting in the lobby but not for a practitioner.

Great "bottom-line" book

I chose 5 stars because throughout the book the author offered valuable information about botox, including its history, without trying to sway the reader one way or another. It is a short read but within those pages, all of my questions were answered. I have had botox but administered ONLY by a board certified plastic surgeon. Anyone who, in my opinion, goes to a nurse at a med spa, to save a few bucks is very foolish. I have seen many botched botox jobs of friends especially heavy eyelids instead of lifted fresh eyes by the misplacement of the needle by the slightest margin. Always these disappointing results from a facility where an MD only oversees and reaps financial benefits. This is mentioned in this book. Plastic surgeons know the muscular/facial construction better than anyone. It's all where you place that injection. Botox itself is so affordable - why go anywhere but to the highest trained individual?

This book will at least make you think and be a smart consumer. The end result should be a good surprise not a nightmare!

Good news, this book is for you

Good news, this book is for you! It will make you laugh. It will make you think (but not too hard). It will make you cry, because you almost certainly have found yourself in many of the cringeworthy scenarios outlined in the book.

If you're interested in becoming a slightly-less awful adult, or accidentally doing a spit-take while reading in a boba cafe, give "You Blew It" a try!

Thumbs up, a good read. Awkwardness is something we ALL face daily (at some point, don't lie to yourself.. you do). But, its nice to see that many of the situations- we aren't alone in. So, if you could use a good belly laugh, take some time and read this book.

I found myself speeding through the book turning pages laughing myself into exhaustion. If you are looking to laugh at life in general, as well as people you know and yourself - this is a must read.

It's an interesting book. And well worth the time to read it.

I've had a number of students who went off to Greek life, and up until the last few weeks (while I read this) I had little idea what that might entail. Neither university that I attended had a Greek program.

The author doesn't try to sensationalize. She notes positives and negatives of Greek life, and I think she tries to present her four students' stories as dispassionately as possible.

I suspect the author took some artistic license

The book is good. She backs up most of her claims, although the undercover work she did cannot be verified. I refuse to believe she could have gotten such detailed conversations, especially in regards to some of the subject's relationships. I also refuse to believe that "Bitsy" is a real person, however that is more wishful thinking than doubt. Nevertheless, Robbins did a fine job with this book, although I can see how many people believe it is anti-Greek life. I do not believe there to be an anti-Greek life tilt in the book, it is simply that, when looked at as a whole, Greek life does not come out looking good.

For those wondering about relevance today, the book has an updated introduction and afterword, both of which modernize the book.

I would recommend this book to anybody who wants a full picture of Greek life.

Fascinating read!

First, a disclaimer: I was in one of the biggest NPC sororities 30 years ago at a large northeastern university, so my experiences weren't the same, I definitely had a much tamer and less alcohol-fueled ride in my sorority - wasn't hazed or forced to do anything improper. Also, we didn't have a house, so I don't have that experience either. I'm also currently one of the alumnae advisers for a local chapter of the sorority, and while times have certainly changed, this chapter seems to be pretty similar to the one I was in - no hazing, and they are very concerned about their on-campus image and being seen as reputable.

Having said all this, this book was a really interesting read! I have no doubt that some of this stuff goes on - especially in the Southern schools where sororities and fraternities are a much bigger deal than they are in the Northeast and your affiliation apparently goes with you for the rest of your life.

Very important information you need to know

Where does Medicare: Simplified rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

It was a surprise to me. I was surprise at how much a person needs to know about medicare in their retirement years.

I think it was the shock of how much a person should know before they sign up for medicare. I would not want to try to read this much information about medicare. I was thankful it has been made into an audio book for easy of listening. I would not care to depend of someone else for my needs in retirement. Having the knowledge ahead of time just feels most comforting.

The narrator Lucy made this an easy to listen to and understand medicare. I thought that was great because this is allot of information that you wouldn't want to sort through on your own.

What a gem!

Even though his conclusions on industrial pollution as being a factor in climate change are the opposite of what is going on today, (a perspective I'm sure he would have revised given the data we have now) this book is a total gem...

I've read many books on similar subject matters but none connects the dots of what makes us, us as well as Ardrey. Particularly how our hunting history played such a big role in the formation of thought, cooperation and culture as we know it.

Mind opening.

Although many conclusions are base on inferring about behavior, and many more are no supposedly being discarded, the experience was a great reading interesting, dynamic and vivid.

Good Science, Acknowledged Inadequate Philosophy

The book contains a vast amount of science - verified knowledge that still holds true after four and a half decades of vast change (and further verified knowledge) - the author could have stopped half-way through for a full book, so you still get a lot of science for your money.

The author does do a lot of weak philosophizing, and he readily admits that philosophy was (and it still is) weak, noting the "shuddering, drunken, tottering of a social structure supported by an inadequate philosophy" (he was speaking of urban ills, but it applies across the board of human existence). This did not stop the author from heaping copious amounts of such inadequate philosophy onto the reader/listener (and probably spurred him to at least try to remedy it - he failed).

He does attempt to correlate the observed animal individual and social behavior with that of humans, and I noted that it does correlate - to lower humans (who do not yet have my new philosophy) (my family dismissed me out-of-hand, but I counter with, "Hey, at least it cuts across race, religion, and gender - now you have people who are only separated by being enlightened or not"). So the book gives us a wealth of insight into our instinctive side (the Freudian 'Id') - if we went around mindlessly (like most people do). I also came away knowing where pulp fiction writers get their character material.

There is a lot of fascinating accounts of species population dynamics that will surprise anyone who has heretofore gone on conventional wisdom (that populating control in animals is resource-driven - it is not always the case, in some species there are fascinating inborn self-regulating genetic behaviors involved - like lemmings mass-self-destructing, female titmice aborting if they even smell another male within four days (population too dense) and snowshoe hares dying off out of sheer nervous breakdowns (again population too dense - no matter what the state of local resources are - more from territorial issues). So the book is still eye-opening in many ways to the non-population dynamics non-animal behavior specialist (meaning me, and probably you).

The author is a good writer, and gives us a lot of great passages, such as "materialism has been the human's rainbow's end" and "tyrants find their power in the mob", and great observations made, such as "animal (and human) play - where there is no great penalty for making wrong decisions".

Information not a sermon.

This was a good introduction to Old Sparky and capital punishment. Basic information minus moralizing.

Grisly but fascinating and well presented

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Obviously, some of the subject matter is disturbing and there is some detail in here not for the squeamish; some tragedies. However, taking it as what it is, this was a good length, reasonably unbiased presentation, well-narrated, and a successful blend of hard stats and human stories. It very much does what it says on the tin, in an un-tabloid manner.
