  • Episode 68 | The Rolling Stones "I Can't Get No Satisfaction"
The Rolling Stones "(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction" was released on June 6th, 1965 in the US, August 20th in the UK. That summer it was the #1 single in both countries along with several more including Austria, Ireland, West Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and South Africa. It was The Stones first #1 in the US and it stayed at the top for a full month that summer. It would go on to be ranked by Rolling Stone as the second greatest song of all time behind Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone".

In this episode we’ll get to the story behind the formation of the song, how its iconic guitar riff wasn’t even intended to be on the track, the controversial lyrics, the many cover versions of the track and more.

Photographer Mark Weiss is on the DISCovery podcast to talk about his brand new book out now called "The Decade That Rocked: The Photography Of Mark "Weissguy" Weiss". Mark's credits include Mötley Crüe's first appearance in a national publication, Oui Magazine in 1982, countless magazine covers and spreads worldwide, and the iconic imagery for many multi-platinum albums including Bon Jovi's 'Slippery When Wet' and Twisted Sister's 'Stay Hungry'.

His career-spanning book features never-before or rarely seen photos of legends like Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, and Mötley Crüe, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, and KISS and more. It also includes exclusive interviews with Ozzy Osbourne, Dee Snider, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry, Rob Halford, and many more who recall their memories of this era-defining decade.

You'll also get to relive Mark’s unbelievable journey through rock history, from getting arrested for selling photos outside of Kiss concert to touring with legends like Van Halen, to photographing Bon Jovi’s infamous “Slippery When Wet” shoot, shooting backstage at Live Aid with Black Sabbath, and so many more.

  • Episode 66 | Guinness World Records: Classic Rock Entries
We’re talking about records in this episode but not the vinyl kind, the Guinness Book kind. This one is all about classic rock artists who have earned a place in The Guinness World Records.

Artists in this episode include The Beatles (including Paul McCartney solo), Santana, Elton John, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, KISS, AC/DC, The Who, Deep Purple, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits & David Bowie.

You'll hear some artists and bands that aren’t necessarily classic rock but either they were just too interesting to leave out or they come from a category where like me you figured it would have been a classic rock band or artist who would have held the record but surprisingly didn’t.

Here's a rundown of the categories covered:
    Albums
    Awards
    Bands
    Concerts
    Fans
    Instruments
    Singles
    Videos

  • Episode 64 | Bob Dylan 'Blonde on Blonde'
This episode of DISCovery is all about rock’s first great double album – Bob Dylan’s ‘Blonde on Blonde’ from 1966. In fact, it’s the first double album ever released.

This album came at what was Bob Dylan’s creative peak. As he told Rolling Stone in 1969, “I was going at a tremendous speed at the time of my ‘Blonde on Blonde’ album. The closest I ever got to the sound I hear in my mind.” He described it as having “that thin, wild, mercury sound.”

Rolling Stone described 'Blonde on Blonde' as a chain-lightning mix of rock & roll, novelty music, surrealist ballads, Chicago blues and psychedelic country with peels of lyrical invention and epic song lengths.

We’ll get into the 14 classic tracks (listed below), the meaning behind the album title and the story behind the iconic cover photo. Plus, hear clips from Dylan’s legendary press conference held in December of 1965 in San Francisco.

  • Episode 63 | Rock & Roll Signatures: What Do They Mean?
In this special Mother's Day episode we’re going to DISCover what’s behind the handwriting of the greatest artists of the classic era. To help us with that is a Graphoanalyst who also happens to be my mom - Pat Senich.

The word "Graphonanalyst" is a term trademarked by the International Graphoanalysis Society. They evaluate someone's personality based on observations made from their handwriting. I compiled a list of signatures by classic rock artists to find out what she had to say about each.

Here's the entire list of classic rockers included in this episode:

    Bon Scott
    Steven Tyler
    John Lennon
    Paul McCartney
    Ozzy Osbourne
    Eric Clapton
    Jim Morrison
    Don Henley
    Stevie Nicks
    Phil Collins
    Jerry Garcia
    Jimi Hendrix
    Steve Perry
    Gene Simmons
    Paul Stanley
    Peter Criss
    Ace Frehley
    Robert Plant
    Jimmy Page
    Ronnie Van Zant
    Neil Young
    Michael Hutchence
    Roger Waters
    David Gilmour
    Sting
    Freddie Mercury
    Mick Jagger
    Keith Richards
    David Lee Roth
    Sammy Hagar
    Edward Van Halen
    Pete Townsend
    Bruce Springsteen

I think you'll be blown away by what you find out about your favorite artists, I know I was. My personal highlight has to be her comments regarding David Gilmour of Pink Floyd.

  • Episode 59 | Songfacts Owner Carl Wiser
This week's guest is the founder and owner of Songfacts.com, the website devoted to song information, including the history and meanings of the songs we all know and love.

Originally launched in 1999 as a resource for DJs, the site gained widespread recognition when Yahoo chose it as a pick in 2002. Songfacts also includes exclusive interviews with songwriters and musicians, a message board, music quizzes and a whole lot more.

What was planned as a discussion of all-things Songfacts, the interview transitioned into a couple of former Connecticut rock DJs hangin' out sharing radio stories and talking about our favorite classic rock artists and songs.

NOTE: In this episode you will hear Carl talk about his Songfacts interview with Bill Withers. Sadly, Withers passed shortly after this interview was recorded.
