With Jordan Peele's Get Out and Ryan Coogler's Black Panther we were sure we were on the road to finally seeing the bevvy of Black films and TV shows displaying all facets of Black drama, sci-fi, fantasy and horror. And the industry seemed happy to comply. And with fare like Black Lightening, Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone, Batwoman, and Naomi to name a few, we believed a new age was dawning. In support of that new age we watched these shows, some of which were good and some of which were not so good. Poor plots, one-dimensional characters, stereotypes and seeming one-trick ponies began to rise.and our hopes began to fall. Are movie and TV studios betting on the Black consumers to watch poorly developed programming winning short term ratings and our long-term loyalty? Is Hollywood being sincere or simply disingenuious and capitalizing on Black Guilt Marketing?

We are only a little over a week away from Mer-May tand Black Fae Day, he cosplaying fantasy and fun periods where people dress up in their favorite mermid and other fantasy character outfits? However there still appeats to be a disconnect between the Black Community and embracing the world of fantasy. How do we encourage members of the Community to engage in the fun that is fantaasy during Mer-May?!

I was really excited to see what they had com eup with and was stunned at what wasn't listed (Yes Jetsons but no Eureka?) as much as I was the order in which the eleven chosen ones were ranked (Timeless ranked lower than Babylon 5?)! In the creative world we have the Stan Lees, Bob Kanes and others who have benefitted from the works of other artists. Without promotion there would be no money but without the art there is no product to promote. Is it fair when the promoter and not the creator grabs the lion's share?
