  • 060: Beth Neels | Binky's Culinary Carnival

Nicknamed by her older brother before she could walk and, a few moons later, still called "Binky" for better or for worse, Beth "Binky" Neels loves to cook. Any kind of cooking! From baking to canning to back yard parties, you name it! She styled her blog a Carnivalbecause the name reflects an appropriate conglomeration of treats.

Beth received her bachelor's degree from Cornell University in ornamental horticulture and she uses her knowledge of plants to grow a plethora of great fruits and vegetables. She starts her plants in January and February so that by planting time in May, she has huge plants that produce fruits within their first month in the ground. This gives her a tremendous jump on the season, which you can see for yourself in her blog's "Farm To Table" section.

Beth's "boys" - her husband and 2 sons - love to hunt and the whole family loves to fish. (Beth can out fish the guys on a good day! ) Beth devotes an entire section of her blog to "Field To Table" recipes that are made with the fresh ingredients for which the family hunts and fishes.

Beth answers the age old question, "What's for dinner?" with unique and fresh recipes, many of them old favorites with a healthier spin and lots of them Beth's original creations.

  • 058: Dawn Coombs | Girl Heart Food

Dawn Coombsis a girl that hearts food, aka the blogger behind Girl Heart Food. There's always something delicious cooking in her home because she and her husband love to cook and eat. As soon as one meal is over, Dawn is thinking about what the next meal will be. The philosophy behind her blog is simple– 'Eat Well. Cook with Love. Make your Belly Happy.'

Most of the recipes you'll find on Girl Heart Food are healthy, while others are indulgent (because she LOVES cheese). But the main thing is that the recipes are easy and delicious!

Dawn loves using simple ingredients, that are easily accessible and relatively budget friendly so that people can prepare fuss-free meals that their families will love. In her kitchen, you'll always find cheese, butter, garlic, onions and pantry staples like beans and lentils. One of her favorite quotes by Julia Child is, "If you're afraid of butter, use cream." That one always puts a smile on her face.

Cooking is such a passion for Dawn and being in the kitchen is a happy place. She loves how there's always something new to learn and try...and having fun along the way!

Dawn enjoys all types of cuisine, but one of her hands down favorite meals is her mother's turkey dinner with buttery mash, dressing, gravy and all the delicious sides. There's something so special about that meal and no one can make it like her mother. Her husband makes a mean Bolognese with homemade pasta that she absolutely loves too. Give her pasta with a glass of wine and a hunk of crusty bread and she's one happy lady!

When Dawn is not testing and preparing recipes for Girl Heart Food, she loves to bake bread just for the pure joy of it. Her grandfather was a baker and she has fond memories of visiting his bakery after school when she was quite young. The smell of freshly baked bread takes her back to those happy times.

When she isn't cooking you can find her working out, spending time with her family and reading mystery novels.

  • 057: Michelle Lettrich | Brown Eyed Baker

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Michelle Lettrich stumbled across a food blog for the first time in February of 2007. Living at a distance from friends and family and feeling cabin fever that winter, starting a blog of her own seemed like a perfect outlet for combining her love of baking and her love of writing. Before she became a full-time blogger, Michelle worked as a marketing analyst.

Michelle is entirely self-taught when it comes to the kitchen, learning as she goes through cookbooks, magazines, television shows, the Internet, and a tremendous amount of trial and error. When she's in the kitchen, she tries to channel the confidence of her grandma, who baked by feel; her hands knew when dough was ready and she never second-guessed herself.

Michelle strives to pass that confidence along to her followers, too!

Michelle loves chocolate, cheesecake, and cheesy dips. When she's not in the kitchen covered in flour, she loves watching sports, lacing up her ice hockey skates, obsessing over my fantasy football team, playing a rousing game of 500 Bid, or spending time with her husband and three kids.

But this turned out to be a blessing in disguise because that's how the blog started. Since then, the blog has been featured on several websites including Saveur, Huffington Post Taste, BuzzFeed Food, The Kitchn and eHow.

Kankana also collaborates with different food brands to create recipes and photograph their products.

Kankana's blog covers a mix of cuisines from all around the world but her native Bengali cuisine has always been closest to her heart.
