Disney Plus Reviews

It's your unofficial Disney+ podcast, reviewing the most popular stuff on Disney+!

You’re getting another two-fer this week! We’re of course discussing the latest episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 (Episode 3) as well as 1997’s wonder of a film, Mr. Magoo.

But before we do, we have a discussion on the news of the week - WandaVision has a release date!

Then, it’s into The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 3 and it’s full spoilers from that point on - you have been warned! We cover all the highlights: the landing on Trask, that awesome new character (old character) reveal, the attack on the ship, plans for finding the Jedi and what might happen next on Mandalore?

The rest of the episode is all about 1997’s Mr. Magoo. Yes, that movie. Again, spoilers! But, really, Phil watched this movie so that you wouldn’t have to. Listen to Grant gush over this got-only-2-weeks-in-the-box-office flop while Phil mostly complains about it. From the crazy antics of a handicapped octogenarian to the wily escapades of the fight over an epic ruby, we cover it all.

The rest of the episode is all about the 3-hour wonder that is Avengers: Endgame. Again, spoilers! So, if you haven’t watched the movie, save this part for later. We talk about Thanos’ “Garden”, Hawkeye turned into Ronin, Captain Marvel’s involvement, Fat Thor, the Time Heist, the return and the loss of certain characters, and that epic fight scene at the end.

Then, it’s into D3 discussion and it’s full spoilers from that point on (watch the movie before listening or just jump in with us!) and we cover all the highlights: the downhill rollerblading fiasco, Coach Orion’s temper as well as his humanity, Goldberg is out and Julie is in, the prank wars, the surprise death of a major character, Charlie's transformation into a true leader, the team almost getting the boot from the school board, and more!

Today on the show, we’re reviewing “Pirates 5”, starring Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Kevin McNally, and Geoffrey Rush.

But before we do, we have a discussion on the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Has it run its course? Do we want more Jack Sparrow or not?

Then it’s into spoiler territory and we cover all our favorite things (and least favorite things) about the 5th installment of this long-running film series. We discuss that wedding scene, the bank robbing escapade, Carina Smith and her relationship to her father, the Turner family (including Henry), a young Jack Sparrow, Barbossa’s relevance (irrelevance?) to the plot, Salazar’s crew and the awesome CGI that goes with it, the island of stars and more!

And we confirm - undead sharks are cool. But has the series jumped the shark?

Today on the show, we’re reviewing the live-action remake of Mulan, the 2020 movie starring Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen, Tzi Ma, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Ron Yuan, Gong Li, Jet Li and more!

But before we do, we have a discussion on “ordering” the movie through the Disney+ app. Was it easy or hard for us? Email the show and let us know how your experience was!

We DO start out with a somewhat lengthy NON-spoiler discussion on Mulan so if you haven’t watched the movie, still tune in for that and then come back and listen to the rest of the episode when you have watched it. We’ll tell you what we thought (generally speaking) of the movie, the CGI, the sets/makeup/costuming, the choreographed action scenes, the lack of singing (it’s not a musical), etc.

Once we get into spoilers, we’re mostly talking about the differences it the original movie compared to the new one, what we thought of the new characters, scenes, lines, and what we think some of the overall themes and message of the movie was.
