Dispatches: Animalia episodes
- Fennec Fox
A story written entirely from inside the desert's smallest fox at night navigating a world that is harder for him than it used to be.
Written for everyone.
In this episode:
• A fox who reads the world through his paws
• What it means when the night has fewer small sounds than it should
• An ending that doesn't pretend the world is unchanged
Why this story matters
This is a carefully crafted and structured ecological story. Children feel the disruption before they can name it and that feeling is the beginning of understanding. It's part of the Checkpoint Kids approach: sensory, honest, and built for the listening body. (British Podcast Awards finalist, 2024 and 2025.)

About Dispatches: Animalia
From the publisher's feed
Checkpoint and EUGY have come together because we share the same belief: that children learn to care for the natural world by experiencing it, not by being told about it.
EUGY make beautiful, biodegradable animal models that a child can build with their own hands.
We make stories that let a child experience the world through the animal's senses.
Together, the story and the model become something neither could be alone — a story you can hold.
Every EUGY animal inhabits a world they experience individually through their own senses. Our stories are written from the perspective of that world. There are no villains or heroes, no happy endings or sad ones. They are dispatches from the natural world.
Each story is written from the animal's own senses. They are written to help us understand that what we see isn't necessarily what other species see. They help us frame a changing world through the eyes of those affected.
Our stories let a child experience the natural world through another animal's body before anyone tells them what to think. The animals don't explain themselves. They move through their environment and the child moves with them. The ecological meaning arrives through sensation, not instruction.
