Anyone who's played sports even at an amateur level, or even in your high school days knows, it's tough to keep your gear and equipment clean. Whether it's uniforms or protective pads, this stuff starts to stink as you use it game after game. There are countless choices of detergent available, but none of them actually CLEAN fabrics, they simply mask odors by adding chemicals and perfumes, and most consumers think if it smells like flowers it must be clean. That's not the case. Enter Drew Westervelt, former Lacrosse pro turned entrepreneur, and founder of HEX laundry detergent.
Drew found a whitespace in the billion dollar detergent industry and when he couldn't find the product to do the job, he actually designed his own Detergent. HEX is now sold at over 2500 stores nationwide including major retailers like Target, WholeFoods, Wegmans and more. He sat down with ONE37pm Associate Editor Omari White to discuss his pro Lacrosse career, pivoting from Lacrosse and becoming an entrepreneur, how he battled dyslexia to become a successful business owner, and the challenges + strategies of tackling a $5 billion industry dominated by traditional, household brands.
