He's one of the giants of Coronation Street of the past 30 years. He played Jim McDonald for 11 years and has been back around 7 times to reprise his role. But there's much more to Charlie Lawson than the Street. Here Ashley sits down for a lengthy chat with this fine actor whose career spans four decades and includes working with the legendary film maker Mike Leigh. Expect a very candid conversation as Charlie recalls his early years on Corrie working with Bev Callard, Nick Cochrane and Simon Gregson. There's frank language throughout. Charlie doesn't mince his words when he talks about the state of TV today! And just what will be in that book he's been working on?
And of course you can hear tons of interviews with other Coronation Street stars on Distinct Nostalgia. Have a trawl through our archive wherever you get your podcasts.

He arrived in Coronation Street in 1983 as the show finally created a home on the cobbles for Vera and her husband Jack. Terry joined them at No.9 and Nigel Pivaro quickly made the character his own. Within a short time, Terry was causing trouble and Nigel was becoming a household face overnight with Corrie regularly watched by half the country. Ashley chats to Nigel about his time on the Street, working with Bill Tarmey and Liz Dawn, helping to create a rather complex character and life on and off screen.

Dawn Acton played Tracy Barlow through her young teenage years and into her early 20s. She navigated the iconic Coronation Street character from childhood to adulthood as she developed a feisty nature and began causing trouble for her long suffering mum Deirdre. Dawn played her for 11 years and has some fond memories of her time on the Street as the third actor to play Corrie's bad girl. She also talks about leaving the cobbles and how that affected her at the time.

Long before bed hopping became common place in the Dales, even a vague hint of a dalliance was a shock to Emmerdale Farm viewers for a character like Dolly, played by Jean Rogers.
Here we've searched high and low for the man who did catch her eye briefly and could have stolen her away from Matt in the late 1980s.
Ashley's been chatting to Greg Floy who played the dashing Stephen Fuller - or the tree feller fella as Jean Rogers nicknamed him. Along the way there's a little surprise for Greg as he's reunited with his short-lived romantic co-star 33 years on.
Enjoy!......there's another Emmerdale reunion coming soon...
