Distractions are normally seen as bad things & time wasters. But I'm here to share with you how distractions can be really helpful & beneficial to your everyday life.
Show Notes:
There is power in distractions. And I mean a good kind of power. Most likely a power you never knew existed because distractions are always seen as bad things that we should avoid. But actually, distractions can be so good for us, when not overused.
I’m the kind of person that gets distracted pretty easily because I want to make sure I am on top of everything all of the time. It’s really ridiculous, I know, and I’m working on it, but it’s the way it is right now. It’s also because my mind is always busy. It’s always working on something that I thought I had forgotten, but really had only put on the back burner to simmer. Is your mind like that?
But like everyone else, I can get distracted from what I’m doing because I’m bored or disinterested in what I should be doing. This is normal. And the normal response to getting distracted when you should be doing something else is to not let distractions steal time from you. To not allow something else to steal your focus & cause you to waste time. But I don’t believe that all distractions are bad for us.
It’s true these can throw us off track for a period of time, but with proper awareness of time & responsibility, distractions can be used to induce so many positive things. And that’s what I want to chat with you about today! I’m going to share some examples of how distractions can be helpful & positive:
Lastly, the key to determining whether a distraction is helpful to you or not is asking yourself, “Is this helpful right now?” Now, you’ll have to be completely honest with yourself, so really consider if having a little break from your current task will better your focus when you have to return to said task. You’ll know if taking a break will cause you to fall completely over the wagon of focus or not.
Let me know what other positives you can find in leaning into distractions that help & not hinder you!
