In the US, mindfulness is being increasingly used for eating habits and diabetes management. Research has shown that mindfulness enhances clinical effect of glycemic control.

Mindfulness can help break down the constant cycle of becoming stressed, anxious and depressed. Pressures and strains of everyday diabetes life cause an internal battle of avoidance.

People strive to avoid ‘negative emotions’ such as guilt, sadness, frustration and anger and instead are attracted to feelings of happiness and contentment.

Mindfulness allows you to accept the way you are feeling rather than constantly battling to try and change it.

The one thing I really wanted was to have multi-racial girls so that every little girl could actually see herself in it, and it would be kind of contagious that everyone was entitled—no matter what race or color or anything—you were entitled to this joyful experience, Cyndi Lauper said. We're talking about diabetic macular edema with musical inspiration from Maxwell. Along with fellow musicians D'Angelo and Erykah Badu, Maxwell has been credited with helping to shape what has been termed the "neo soul" movement that rose to prominence during the late 1990s Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) is an accumulation of fluid in the macula-part of the retina that controls our most detailed vision abilities-due to leaking blood vessels. In order to develop DME, you must first have diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is caused by damage to the blood vessels in the tissue at the back of the eye (retina). Poorly controlled blood sugar is a risk factor. Early symptoms include floaters, blurriness, dark areas of vision, and difficulty perceiving colors. Blindness can occur. We're talking about embracing people with diabetes heath-related complications with musical inspiration from Della Reese. According to Radar Online, Della Reese has had serious complications from type-2 diabetes. The famed gospel and jazz singer has even admitted the bouts she's faced with diabetes have been life-threatening. "My life is at stake," she said. "I don't have type 2 diabetes - type 2 diabetes has me." In 2000, Della was officially diagnosed with diabetes after collapsing on the set of the hit TV show "Touched By An Angel". Since then, she's battled with her health to fight against wheelchair confinement. Her rep claims she's still able to walk and refuses to be confined. At this point, let's just hope she continues to fight like we know she can.
