The idea of Fast Fashion and mass production is key to understanding our environment and how to live more sustainably. After we dive into our icebreaker question, we start off by defining our terms used throughout the episode to ensure everyone starts on the same page. We discuss our thoughts on the history of Fast Fashion which helps explain the current power this industry holds. This leads us to addressing the ideas of production, consumption, and fair wages. Ensuring that exploited employees are properly paid is the leading frustration we see with the fast fashion industry, along with the environmental impacts which we address heavily throughout. Lastly, we discuss how production and consumption lead to trillions of micro-plastics and the effects that we see on our planet. We urge everyone to think twice before buying a new item of clothing and if possible, support ethical, local, and small businesses!

This week, we switch things up a bit by starting off with a discussion on recent Antisemitism, racism, and our feelings towards the criminal justice system before diving into our interview with our friend, Isaac. With Isaac, we discuss a myriad of topics, centered specifically around the current healthcare system. Using his more socialist viewpoint, Isaac talks about the role the government should play in society and how economics play into the system. The extremely important topic of reproductive rights is also brought up and focused on. We discuss Planned Parenthood as well and the reaction that the organization gets on a national scale. We believe it's super important to put basic human necessities first, and thus abortion is justified. We also bring up how large of an effect socioeconomic status has on the U.S., especially in reference to the standard of care that doctors give to their patients. Lastly, we discuss our opinions on Ethical Egoism and putting others before ourselves.

This week, we discuss the global epidemic of Human Trafficking and the response that we have as advocates. It is a heavier episode, so we encourage you to tune into a different episode if this topic may be triggering for you. With that being said, we also urge you to check in with your friends and family members to ensure they are safe and healthy as well. We discuss our initial and current feelings towards Human Trafficking and then work our way to reflecting on some survivor stories and discussing ways to help, even from a distance. Following that, we talk about the Dressember movement and the idea of femininity. Allyship is a huge idea that we dive into as well and we discuss how our actions influence the society around us. Becoming educated on tough subjects is a great first step in stopping Human Trafficking and finding ways to bring more hope and acceptance into dark places. This week, we discuss our initial and current feelings towards the Biden-Harris win announced last Saturday. We are so thankful for everyone who has helped us the past couple of months phone bank for Joe Biden, informing people on why it is important to vote, and participating in our political discussions! We then go into talking about Veterans Day and how important it is to honor the people who have fought and died for our country. We wanted to take a few minutes to remind everyone that even though we are no longer in a strict lockdown, COVID-19 is still happening. It is still extremely important to wear a mask and social distance to protect yourself and those around you. During these crazy times, it is most important to put yourself first and so we want to encourage you all to take the break you need for your mental health. See you next week!

For the second episode in our environmentalism miniseries, we interview Maya Eisengart who is very interested in Environmental Science and passionate about the effects of the meat industry on the climate. There are so many different ways to lower your carbon footprint, and minimizing your meat intake or cutting it out all together is a great way to make a positive change on the environment. Throughout the episode, Maya addresses how the excessive meat intake especially of Americans has a negative impact on humans, animals, the economy, and of course the environment. We also wanted to put out a disclaimer to anybody that gets triggered by the subject of food that we are not trying to pressure anybody into starting one of these diets, we are just sharing the pros and cons. This week, we start our environmentalism miniseries by interviewing the leaders of the Youth Climate Action Coalition of Women (YCACW), Saydie and Aayushi. We delve into the intentions behind YCACW and how they became a movement of passionate youth looking to make a change. We then transition into leading a greener lifestyle in addition to talking about women as minorities in various fields. With a feminist lens, Saydie and Aayushi also talk about educating others on the topic of environmentalism and practical tips to make genuine changes within our communities. We are so thankful for Saydie and Aayushi, along with the entire YCACW community, for their time and words of wisdom. We are extremely excited for everyone to learn from what these two amazing activist have to say and we hope they inspire you to make a positive change in your carbon footprint. In this post-election episode, we unwrap our views on what has happened over the past couple days. We wanted to specifically address the media's role in the election and the vote counting since Tuesday night. We talk about what a Biden win will mean for the future of this country and what a Trump win will mean for the future of this country because it is incredibly important to see multiple perspectives. Last but not least, we wanted to acknowledge all of the LGBTQ+ politicians including Sarah McBride, Adrian Tam, Mauree Turner, Shevrin Jones, Michele Rayner, Mondaire Jones, Kim Jackson, and Taylor Small that have won their races! Stay optimistic for a Biden win in the next few days, and please continue to be civically engaged!
