Penelope Lawson is a director, writer, and producer based out of Los Angeles, California and New York, New York. She attended the prestigious Graduate Film Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where she received her MFA in film directing. She received her BA from Fordham University, where she was a Communications/Media and Visual Arts double major, both with a film concentration.
She directed, wrote, and produced the films WILDE EASTERN , (an official selection at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival), and, most recently, 1 NIGHT IN SAN DIEGO , a road trip buddy-comedy starring Jenna Ushkowitz (GLEE), Laura Ashley Samuels (WALK OF FAME, MODERN FAMILY), Alexandra Daddario (WHY WOMEN KILL, BAYWATCH, SAN ANDREAS), Adam Rose (MERRY HAPPY WHATEVER, LA’S FINEST), Eric Nelsen (THE AFFAIR, COMING THROUGH THE RYE), and Kelsey Douglas.
She strives to make female-driven, positive, and empowering comedic films that anyone can enjoy.
