This particular reading has to do with two different healings.

The book of acts from sort of a 30,000 foot level to talk about how God sort of mysteriously moves in ways that surprise us and in ways that we can't anticipate and in the very end we get very practical and talk about what this passage means for us as Christians in our daily lives.

Will Jones, one of the pastors at GPC, preaches this sermon, which is based on Acts chapter nine, and it's the story of the conversion of Saul into Paul. Who we know as one of the great major figures of the New Testament.

Will Jones, the  pastor of Germantown Presbyterian Church, sermon on the GPC Divine Discoveries podcast. This sermon that you're listening to now is called The Surprising Acts of God, and it was preached on April the 27th. This passage that it's based on is Acts 5, verses 12 through 32. It's a long passage, but it's a passage that talks about the disciples and what they went through and how they were changed in some very good and very surprising ways on account of the resurrection. 

Will Jones, one of the pastors at Germantown Presbyterian Church, thank you for listening to this sermon that took place on Easter Sunday, and the title is God on the Move into the Tomb and Back. All throughout the season of Lent, we were looking at God on the move as Christ was moving from the north in Galilee all the way down to Jerusalem and the things that he encountered along the way. And then, of course, went to Jerusalem where he suffered, where he was crucified, and then he moved into the tomb. But even more importantly than that, he moved out. And so this sermon looks at all the different emotions that took place on that morning.

Although it is really about the Father. It's about the Father's grace and love toward not just the son who wanders away into the far country, but also the son who stays right at home. And Jesus is trying to teach us something very important in this parable, something for all believers about who we are and God's call and God's claim on our lives.

We're gonna spend some time in the Gospel of John in the 12th chapter, starting with a first verse and going to verse eight, and we're gonna be in this rather strange story where Jesus is anointed for his burial with perfume before he has passed away. As we continue the lenten season.  We hope this story has incredible significance for us in our journey of faith today.
