My early twenties was extremely challenging. By age 25 I was married and the mother of four children between the ages of 1 and 6. I moved to Georgia at this time to get away from my oldest three children’s father. He was physically abusive.

I sent my three children at the time to spend the summer with their grandmother (his mother) to make the transition. While he was away in NY for one of his weekend trips; I moved. When he got back, I was gone apartment empty. He returned to NY and I moved to Georgia. I worked for about 90 days and decided I needed my children closer. Now there was drama on both sides.

I felt abandoned for a very long time in my life. I really didn’t know where I fit in. Neither did, I feel deeply connected or supported by my mom. I felt like I spent over 20 years trying to bond with her. I was constantly questioning life: why me? There appeared to be more roadblocks than open doors.

And then a part of me that I had exiled (the still small voice within) for over 9 years reappeared.
