Jewish Law instructs us that upon entering the month of Adar we should increase in joy. In other words, it is a Jewish obligation to be joyous during Adar. In truth, joy and happiness are elemental to serving God all year round, because joy and happiness motivate us and bring vitality to our service and the mitzvahs that we do.  Happiness isn't that simple. Happiness is a frame of mind, and it's deceptively difficult to achieve - and maintain - that mindset.

Shabbat is the name for the seventh day of the week. The Torah tells us, "Six days you shall work, and the seventh day is Shabbat, for the Lord your God."   Shabbat is at the very center of Jewish consciousness. It is repeated more times than any other mitzvah in the Torah, and it is the only ritual observance which is part of the Ten Commandments.  Shabbat is one of the greatest sources of inspiration, and, paradoxically, Shabbat is often the greatest hurdle to those trying Judaism.

The animal soul, is the source of all your self-serving drives. In one word, the animal soul is self-centered passion.   But our yetzer hara takes the raw material of the animal soul's benign passion and provides it form by channeling it towards immoral ends.  The animal soul naturally gravitates towards that which it perceives as pleasurable and gratifying. As physical beings, our default pleasures are physical, and often of the forbidden variety.  Rabbi teaches us how to control it.

The purpose of life is to attain pleasure. A primary source of pleasure is having power through Torah and Mitzvahs. Torah makes us constantly aware of purpose and our duties in life; it gives us a true definition of our purpose, and it shows us the ways and means of attaining this goal.  G-d told Adam, the purpose in life, “Replenish the earth, and conquer it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

Souls and its arrival in this wild world of flesh, known as the "World of Lies". Why is it called that? Because everything in this material plane is actually a lie. People can lie, for no one knows what is in another person's heart. Each person carries the secrets of his inner faults and failing, putting on appearances so that no one should discover those secrets. G-d, knows our innermost heart and thoughts, and all of our actions!  There is no lying to G-d!  Know and follow the truth.

The common Hebrew word for miracle is nes, which translates as something that is raised up or elevated. Ordinarily, when we look around us, we are not privileged to see G‑d working openly. However, it is tough to argue with a miracle—a supernatural event that indicates strongly that G‑d is at work. When we witness a miracle, we are elevated. We have been given new insight into the meaning of the ordinary events in our life, and we realize that they too are really G‑d's work.

I have only been created to serve my Master. In the works of Kabbalah, various expositions are presented as to the purpose of creation. The Zohar states that the reason G d created the world is “So that we may know Him.” Rabbi Chaim Vital in Etz Chaim writes that “G d wished to reveal the complete array and perfection of His powers and deeds.” Plus in Zohar—“so that the creations may know Him
