Entrance Antiphon.
Beside the Sea of Galilee, the Lord saw two brothers, Peter and Andrew, and he said to them: Come after me and I will make you fishers of men.

First Reading: Romans 10:9-18

A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.

Brothers and sisters: 
If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord 
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, 
you will be saved. 
For people believe with their hearts and so are justified, 
and they confess with their lips and so are saved. 
The scripture says, 
“No one who believes in him will be put to shame.” 
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; 
the same Lord is Lord 
of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. 
For, “everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord 
will be saved.”

But how are people to call upon him 
in whom they have not believed? 
And how are they to believe in him 
of whom they have never heard? 
And how are they to hear without a preacher? 
And how can people preach unless they are sent? 
As it is written, 
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!” 
But they have not all heeded the gospel; 
for Isaiah says, “Lord, 
who has believed what he has heard from us?” 
So faith comes from what is heard, 
and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ.

But I ask, have they not heard? 
Indeed they have; for 
“Their voice has gone out to all the earth, 
and their words to the ends of the world.”

I, John, saw an angel coming down from heaven, 
holding in his hand 
the key of the bottomless pit 
and a great chain. 
And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, 
who is the Devil and Satan, 
and bound him for a thousand years, 
and threw him into the pit, 
and shut it and sealed it over him, 
that he should deceive the nations no more, 
till the thousand years were ended. 
After that he must be loosed for a little while. 

Then I saw thrones, 
and seated on them were those 
to whom judgment was committed. 
Also, I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded 
for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, 
and who had not worshipped the beast or its image 
and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.

and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 

Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat upon it; 
from his presence earth and sky fled away,

And the dead were judged by what was written in the books,

This is the second death, the lake of fire; 
and if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life,

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; 
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, 
and the sea was no more. 
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, 
coming down out of heaven from God, 
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

and for those who give suck in those days!

I, John, looked, 
and behold, a white cloud, 
and seated on the cloud one like a son of man, 
with a golden crown on his head, 
and a sharp sickle in his hand. 
And another angel came out of the temple, 
calling with a loud voice to him who sat upon the cloud, 
“Put in your sickle, and reap, 
for the hour to reap has come, 
for the harvest of the earth is fully ripe.” 
So he who sat upon the cloud swung his sickle on the earth, 
and the earth was reaped. 

And another angel came out of the temple in heaven, 
and he too had a sharp sickle.
Then another angel came out from the altar, 
the angel who has power over fire, 
and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, 
“Put in your sickle, 
and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, 
for its grapes are ripe.” 
So the angel swung his sickle on the earth 
and gathered the vintage of the earth, 
and threw it into the great wine press of the wrath of God.

and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand
who had his name and his Father’s name
written on their foreheads.
And I heard a voice from heaven
like the sound of many waters
and like the sound of loud thunder;
the voice I heard
was like the sound of harpers playing on their harps,
and they sing a new song before the throne
and before the four living creatures and before the elders.
No one could learn that song
except the hundred and forty-four thousand
who had been redeemed from the earth.

It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes;
these have been redeemed from mankind
as first fruits for God and the Lamb,
and in their mouth no lie was found,
for they are spotless.

the man must take the wife and raise up children for his brother. 
Now there were seven brothers; 
the first took a wife and died without children, 
and the second and the third took her, 
and likewise, all seven left no children and died. 
Afterward the woman also died. 
In the resurrection, therefore, 
whose wife will the woman be? 
For the seven had her as wife.” 

And Jesus said to them, 
“The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage; 
but those who are accounted worthy to attain to that age 
and to the resurrection from the dead 
neither marry nor are given in marriage, 
for they cannot die any more, 
because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, 
being sons of the resurrection. 
But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, 
in the passage about the bush, 
where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham 
and the God of Isaac 
and the God of Jacob. 
Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; 
for all live to him.” 

And some of the scribes answered, 
“Teacher, you have spoken well.” 
For they no longer dared to ask him any question.

At that time:

While he was still speaking to the people, 
behold, his mother and his brothers and sisters stood outside, 
asking to speak to him. 
But he replied to the man who told him, 
“Who is my mother, and who are my brothers and sisters?” 
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, 
“Here are my mother and my brothers and sisters! 
For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven 
is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
