  • Principles for Married Couples - Divorce, Separation, Mixed Marriages
    1. The Apostle Paul moves to the next two questions in his response to the letter from the church in Corinth, but is still dealing with the subject of marriage principles, this time with the subject of divorce and mixed marriages. There are two key questions addressed in the text: a. Is divorce permissible between two Christians? b. What is a Christian's duty in a mixed marriage (believer + unbeliever)?

  • What's Your Relationship Status
The sermon explores the biblical perspective on singleness and marriage, arguing that one's domestic status does not determine their spiritual value or usefulness to God. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 7, it highlights the unique focus available to single believers while acknowledging the holy responsibilities inherent in marriage. The preacher emphasizes that ultimate fulfillment is found only in Christ, urging listeners to maintain an eternal perspective amidst temporary earthly circumstances. Key decisions regarding relationships must be governed by purity, prayer, and peace rather than cultural pressure or fleeting desires. Ultimately, the central message calls every believer to prioritize their relationship with Jesus above all else, regardless of whether they are single, married, or waiting.

  • Arminian Verses Debunked: Are They Rightly Handling the Word?
When confronted with the historical doctrines of grace, Arminians frequently respond by citing popular proof-texts like John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:9, and 1 Timothy 2:4 to deny God's absolute sovereignty over salvation. But are these passages being handled righteously, or are they being ripped entirely out of their biblical contexts? And this question about context matters, because the main problem with the way Arminians handle scripture is that they ignore or twist the context of their proof texts to arrive at the conclusion they desire. This is true whether you are talking about the general context of the harmonization of the Old and New Testaments, where so many Old Testament passages show the weakness and inability of man and are quoted in the New Testament, and Arminians act as if the Old Testament and New Testament have no relation with each other. The other way they do this is by quoting only one or two verses and completely divorcing this short excerpt from the context of the passage it was found in. This second category is where we spend most of out time in this episode. In this episode we break down the most common verses used to defend Arminian theology. By examining the surrounding text, the immediate audience, and the overarching counsel of Scripture, we expose wrong thinking and the poor hermeneutics that drive these misinterpretations—and try to show how ignoring context can pave the way toward serious errors.Thumbnail image by AgnieszkaMonk on PixabayTimecodes00:00 Hermeneutics07:46 John 3:1624:19 2 Peter 3:935:59 1 Timothy 2:451:02 Matthew 23:37Production of Reformation Baptist Church of Youngsville

  • Are Your Church’s Permissible Grounds For Divorce Too Narrow?
The guys explore the evolving theological understanding of divorce within the Christian church, particularly in cases of severe abuse. It challenges the traditional, rigid interpretation of biblical grounds for divorce—limited to adultery or desertion—by examining the implications of Dr. Wayne Grudem's reevaluation of 1 Corinthians 7:15. They emphasize that when abuse causes irreparable harm to a marriage, it may constitute a valid, biblically grounded reason for separation, not as a rejection of marriage, but as a necessary act of protection and justice. The tone is pastoral and reflective, urging the church to balance grace with accountability, prioritize the well-being of victims, and reexamine long-held doctrines through discernment, prayer, and biblical fidelity. The message is that God's love and justice are not in conflict, and the church must respond with wisdom, mercy, and courage when lives are at stake.
