Before an outpouring of dance-music dignitaries and DJs of all stripes, DJ Times magazine celebrated its 30th anniversary this past Jan. 16 at The VNYL club in Manhattan.
"I've always loved DJ Times & appreciated both cover stories I've done with you guys. It was a pleasure to raid my storage locker & grab vinyl as this was the second time in 15 years I've played it. There's lots of people bumping into the booth & you really feel like you're in the party the way it was recorded. Playing these records reminded me how much simpler House Music was in the 90's & how pure these tracks come across 20+ years later. There's a lot to be learned from the music of the past to influence the future forward music of tomorrow. House Music will never go away & now that we've past 35 years of it, there are certified classics that stand beside any other genre's best. I chose to play a bit more Underground in this set through my Chicago lens & hope it brought some folks back & turned a slew of kids on to some sounds they've never heard before. I honestly can't wait to play vinyl again. Thank you, DJ Times!!!" - Tommie Sunshine
