Sheffield is a city well accustomed to the sounds of clattering, metallic percussion and deep, experimental electronics; and there are few out there that can claim responsibility for that more than DJ, promoter, producer and self-professed “warehousing agitator”, Liam O’Shea – or Lo Shea to you and me.
Along with the untouchable sounds of Sheffield founded label, Warp, and a number its esteemed artists (The Black Dog, LFO and, briefly, Autechre), Lo Shea has been one of the champions of the northern city’s electronic and club music landscape in recent years. His productions and DJ sets race between ferocious techno, relentless, wiry electro and acid infused EBM, with a melodic sensibility never lurking too far from the surface.
Here, he delivers a blistering mix inspired by his recent Fabric set. In our interview, which you can read on the DJ Mag Website, he also talks to us about all things Hope Works, musicianship, and his new EP on Dusky's 17 Steps label...

Eli Escobar has been at the heart of New York’s club scene for over two decades now. Born and raised in the city, the DJ/producer has been consistently inspired by the cultural diversity that surrounded him growing up in the 80s and the many ways it manifested itself musically in those pre-MTV years.
You can hear it in the dynamic and stylistic range of his ever-exciting DJ sets, which veer from soulful disco and jazzy, propulsive house into realms of reggaeton, soul, hip hop, funk, Afrobeat and beyond. A professional DJ since 1997, Escobar has since held residencies in clubs such as Le Bain and Tiki Disco as well as garnering quite the international reputation through extensive touring.
This mix is the perfect summation of Mr. Escobar’s DJing expertise and tact, being a literal excerpt from a recent set played at Good Room in Brooklyn where he played for six hours while fellow New Yorker Danny Krivit played in the other room.

Le Loup first put himself on DJ Mag’s radar as a resident at much-loved London party, Half Baked. We’ve been keen to lock him in for a podcast of his warm, groove-led music ever since.
First released by Wolf+Lamb with his debut EP ‘See Line’ back in 2009, Le Loup has gone on to launch his own Shadow Play label this year, which has already put out music by artists including Chris Carrier and Scott Edward.
His Hold Youth project with close friend and b2b partner, Seuil, had a huge 2017 too, with the pair spinning together under the name at Rex Club in Paris, Gottwood and [ipsə] in Berlin, amongst many others.
Le Loup’s DJ Mag Podcast was recorded live from his show at Terminal Club in Lyon earlier this month. Listen to it above and read his Q&A on djmag.com.
Ombra International are the mysterious collective that have been exploring the outer reaches of electronic music together since the back end of 2016.
Italian for shadow, Ombra self-describe themselves as "united by lust and fury" and "together alone", delivering an output that's an avant-garde force of unfamiliar comfort.
Since forming, the Berlin collective have put out music by Curses, Mondowski, K-Effect, Cannibal Ink, Perel, Dawn Again and more on a series of various artists releases. They bring together artists from around the world who share roots in post-punk, wave, and other weirdo guitar music, mixing it with Italo, the darker side of disco and electro.
Listen to their mix, and check out the full interview on DJMag.com.
