Today I get a little cranky again on the podcast. It makes me nervous. I make an inappropriate joke and take it back. I talk about the literal sh*t in my yard. I say What the FORK?! a couple of times. Oh well. I read an article that made me angry. It made me think people expected the USA to save them, to be perfect, to be paradise, and that they are surprised to discover it won't, isn't and never will be (and never was).

Jessica is amazing. What a joy to have her on the podcast, from across my neighborhood right here in Djibouti. She offers practical tips for raising littles during this lockdown. She talks about her worries for family in the USA and what it feels like to be stuck here. And, we have a really honest conversation about how to keep our work here going. She made me cry. Again.

Djibouti already had a flood, in November. We also already had locusts. And a new disease, chikungunya. I think we have had our fair share of hard things. Oh - and we're starting at 60% unemployment.

And then came Covid 19 and then came a second and third generation of locusts and then came more rain and rain and rain.
