The Carterville Lions open the 2022/23 Boys Basketball season on Monday Night, as they begin play in the Murphysboro/Trico Ernie Bozarth Tournament.

I spent a few minutes talking with Carterville Basketball Coach Shane Hawkins about the beginning of the season tourney.

The Carterville Lions are home for round two of the IHSA playoffs as they host the Coal City Coalers coming up on Saturday.  

The Lions who are the number one seed in Class 4A are coming off a 36-7 win over Geneseo.  

The Coalers are the number eight seed knocked off Wood River/East Alton 22-6.  Scott Hudson joins me as we preview this week's matchup.

The Carterville Lions start postseason play on Saturday when they host the Geneseo Maple Leafs in the first round of the IHSA Class 4A Playoffs.  

The Lions are the number one seed in the south bracket while the Maple Leafs are the number sixteen seed.

It's hard to believe but it's the final week of the regular season of the Illinois High School football season.
