Welcome to Beyond Comfort Zone Episode 21! This is the first episode of the year 2025! I hope you closed the year with a Bang like me , did you attend an end of year party like me ? Feel free to share on the comment section below.
This got me thinking about the different cultures we have from our individual lineages to the cultures we have on a daily basis in our routines, in our families, organisation, country etc .
January is a beautiful month to learn about your lineage, who we are as Africans, where we come from. Uphold what is needed with pride and releasing what is not. Some of the things i wish to uphold are dance practices which comes with face paintings, dope fits , Muratina stories and its importance,The Agikuyu Language, Roracio and what it entails etc. One of the things i would like to also champion in fighting against is FGM.
Female genital mutilation (FGM) refers to “all procedures involving partial or total removal of the female external genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.”[1] FGM is a violation of girls’ and women’s human rights.
I just got to learn that its a global crisis and the statistics are not that visible which means alot of it is hidden and we still have girls and women undergoing this.
From honoring ancestral traditions to embracing the witchy practices that connect me to the earth and my intuition, I celebrate the depth and uniqueness of my culture.
