Syracuse ended its 2021 season following a first round loss to Georgetown. The 10-goal loss extended the Orange's championship drought to 13 years, the longest stretch of time between national championships for SU since the NCAA Tournament was established. Following the season, head coach John Desko announced his retirement after 46 years of being involved with Syracuse men's lacrosse. The retirement led SU to turn to a program legend in Gary Gait to take the helm.

Arguably one of the most successful teams on Syracuse University's campus this season, Syracuse field hockey has the best chance at making the NCAA Final Four since 2015, the year it won the tournament.
