Dear Choose Happy Community,
Do yogis have special powers? This teaching gently reframes the question. True power isn’t something flashy or extraordinary. It’s the quiet strength to choose love in the middle of chaos, to choose peace when fear is loud, and to stay rooted in understanding no matter what arises. Everything else may be beautiful along the way, but the real gift is learning to love—again and again. That is a power beyond words.
Here’s one of our favorite quotes from the video:
“ The real power of a yogi is to be like Christ when he stepped off the boat and said to the storm ‘peace,’ and there was peace. The real power of the yogi is to be like the Buddha when there was a rushing elephant, and he was so full of calm that the elephant ceased moving, and found peace.
“So our power is the ability to choose love. It’s the ability to choose peace. It’s the ability to choose understanding. That is the real gift. Everything else is just shiny stuff along the way. And shiny things are beautiful. There’s nothing wrong with admiring beautiful things. That’s the gift of being in a human body.
“And it is good for us to practice discernment to know this is just a shiny thing on the way. But man, where I’m going, it goes beyond what I can articulate. That’s how beautiful it is. So that’s our real power. Our power is the ability to love, again and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again forever. Isn’t that amazing?”

If you have heard this teaching before, we invite you — as Swami so often invites us — to hear it as if you are hearing it for the first time. Often we receive these teachings right when we need them.
