In this episode of Beyond Dieting, we talk about Body Dysmorphia.

This is how the Mayo Clinic defines body dysmorphia:

“Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a mental health condition in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance — most often these are flaws that appear minor or can't be seen by others. But you could feel so embarrassed, ashamed and anxious that you avoid being seen in social situations."

You may find yourself still hiding in the back of photos. You might not believe the scale is working if the number is too low.  You continue to purchase larger clothes because you just don't see yourself as someone who should wear the smaller sizes that actually fit.

 

Many women can suffer from the symptoms of body dysmorphia because we have been raised with such unrealistic images of what a 'normal' woman's body looks like.  

If you still see yourself as 'fat' even though you've lost weight, or you don't consider yourself a woman who exercises because you aren't an athlete, this podcast will help!
