Here are a set of 4 podcasts, hosted by Gill and Yvonne. They discuss the prophecy Gill’s Mum, Kath made years before she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Whilst watching a news bulletin, she had been incensed when she heard that people could be forced to sell their home to pay care fees and she made Gill swear that she would never let that happen. Gill subsequently found that Kath’s words gave her the strength and tenacity to battle the Establishment for 7 arduous years, not only to save the family home, but more importantly, to ensure Kath received the correct level of care.

Gill and Yvonne talk about a Sector that is seemingly not fit for purpose and in Gill’s experience, appeared to be dependent on Continuing Health Care (CHC) tick box processes.

They discuss the unintended consequences and the cost to families, emotionally, practically, domestically, and financially when a loved one is diagnosed with a health condition, and the importance of having lasting power of attorney.

Gill discusses her relentless fight to force the authorities to address and act on Kath’s complex care needs that were consistently ignored by the myriad of professionals and departments who she feels avoided taking responsibility and accountability. No government has been able to address the ever-growing social care issues, where more and more individuals and families are impacted day after day. The so-called Continuing Health Care or CHC framework and its’ goalposts seem to shift like quicksand. Gill and Yvonne talk about the politics and what can be expected when families find themselves embroiled into the Social Care system, and the importance of holding Lasting Power of Attorney.
