Ben Ankara yaşıyorum. Dün İstanbul benim bir toplantı vardı. Bu yüzden uçak İstanbul gittim. Toplantı yaklaşık iki saat sürdü. Toplantıdan sonra restoran gittik ve akşam yemeği yedik. Akşam yemek bazı insanlar tanıştım. Tanış insanlar çok sevdim. Onlar beni bir kafe davet ettiler. Kafe çay içtik ve sohbet ettik. Akşam Ankara’ya uçak değildi. Bu yüzden Ankara trene döndüm. Güzel bir gündü ama yorgundum. Hemen odamda gittim ve uyudum.


Hello and welcome to my podcast! There were many mistakes in the text you just listened to (I have to be honest, I had a hard time not correcting the mistakes while reading, teacher reflex). Some of you have probably already noticed these mistakes. But for some of you, I know that they sounded quite right, and that's why in today’s episode, we’ll be discussing common mistakes made by people who are learning Turkish. As we all know, learning a language is not an easy process, and especially if you’re a Turkish learner, yeah I know buddy… Making mistakes is a natural part of this journey. There are certain aspects of Turkish that learners often struggle with. We’ll go over these errors with examples and discuss how to correct them.I hope you are making some of these mistakes and after this episode you will not do it again!  If you're ready, let's get started!


First, I’d like to talk about possessive suffixes. Many people learning Turkish think that simply saying “benim, senin, onun” is enough to express possession. But this is not entirely correct. In Turkish, you also need to use a suffix on the noun to indicate possession. For example, saying “benim anne” is incorrect. The correct way to say it is “benim annem.”
