Rin Tin Tin, Lassie — were household names when I was growing up but then I’m 71. We knew two famous dogs were available to save our lives when we were in peril. I have a cat who knows when I’m about to have a seizure. That’s not counting animals that know when your blood sugar dips or goes too high. There’s a broad range of service animals out there that nobody knows about, and that’s really unfortunate.
I’m pretty sure millennials have no idea what service animals are, and that’s sad because animals give unconditional love and service. First of all their senses of smell and hearing are astronomical, and they can sense changes in body chemistry that can save lives. They don’t get jealous, or want next year‘s model of anything. They just want to be fed, housed, and will work for us and love us unconditionally. How amazing is that?
My guest, the founder of Cammies and Canines, doesn’t work with cats, but he can sure tell you about how amazing service dogs are. Tune in and find out.
