But will the Guest of Honour turn up?!

Episode 115 – It’s a miracle as the Four Wise Men (Rob, Mark, Dave and Richard) reunite to end the year on a high (?) note for our Ninth Annual Staff Christmas Party to discuss all things Doctor Who.  

After acknowledging the state of the world in our opener, we down several G&T’s to get into the spirit(s) of the season and then take a sharp turn right and examine the Top 5 crimes the Doctor has committed.  Marvel as Richard gets all Jim Bakker with his selections viewed through a Biblical (Old Testament, baby!) lens. 

The Target Book Club is back in a session as we dig deep into Cybermen story novelisations from the 60’s and 80’s. Are they 'excellent' or a load of old Mondas?

The Fanwank of the Year Award is back!  Some of the ‘usual suspects’ make a return (cough Big Finish cough) but will the current production team and its organ the Cardiff Pravda escape unscathed?

All this plus Richards ‘theory’ about Rogue, the hiring of intimacy co-ordinators and a letter from a listener!

42 to Doomsday will return (sporadically and whenever we get sign off from the men with the butterfly nets) in 2025!

Episode 114 - Lock up your mothers and pull out your favourite bottle of red as the Statler and Waldorf of Doctor Who podcasting return with a bang! In this episode we host Aron Challinger, noted merchandising maestro and all round (or is that oval) good egg to chew over the parlous state of Doctor Who merchandising and rue the missed opportunities.

We then divert to take a massive whack at the deplorable latest series (is it 1 or 14?) of our favourite show.  Did expectations match reality? But fear not, we end on our trademark high!

Episode 110 - Everyone in fandom remembers the bombshell news late in 2022 heard exclusively in episode 106 – Unleash the Hoard(ers)! of the 42 to Doomsday podcast, announcing the discovery of a hoard of audio-visual material recorded off domestic television in Australia dating back to the early 1970s.

Episode 109 - Doctor Who has always had a troubled relationship over the years with Australian censors.  In this episode we demonstrate how troubled with the able assistance of researcher Mike Pummel who has dug up a treasure trove of correspondence relating to the many cuts that were inflicted upon our favourite show!

We discuss the process of how episodes of Doctor Who and other TV shows were submitted for review before transmission and what needed to be excised to achieve a ‘family friendly’ rating during the 60’s 70’s and 80’s. Was there any method to their madness?  Or was it down to an individual's view on how to protect fragile Australian minds from British filth and violence?

What other shows failed to escape the dreaded guillotine and ‘Holy censorship!’, we detail the cuts made to Caves of Androzani Part 4 and would have Mark’s ‘directors cut’ suggestion for the ending saved the show from cancellation?

All this plus Rob goes back to the sweet, sweet 90s and gives us all a taste of Young Rob's percolating bile against the New Adventures!

The dreaded metal pepper pots are the focus of our Target Book Club this episode!  We whisk ourselves away via the power of prose to Skaro, Mechanus, Spiridon and...umm...Skaro again and too close things out we put forward our nominations for Fanwank of the Year Award!
